Being on the run: part carrying around a handful of items to remind you of home, part thinking how it’s the people that make one.
Promises is a film about endless migration, the state of constant flux. Having left home and lost touch with it, we start looking for a new place we can call your own, a place of empowerment.
What fuels you us this quest?
Is it the memories? The hope that having untied our bindles and unwrapped those mementos, we will restore the senses of safety and belonging we used to enjoy? Or is it the promises of new things-relief and tranquility-that potential settling down suggests?
The space around us, the vast expanse of nature, seems like it might empower us but will you ever connect and be one with it? Or will we always end up isolated in your house of glass, or, in this case, veil?
One is looking for answers to these while still rootless.

Promises supports the J.Kim Fall/Winter 2022 collection, in which J.Kim creative director Jenia Kim explored the everlasting themes of home, family values, and search for places of empowerment. In her work for the collection, she was mainly looking into her own strength and where it comes from.
