I was born and raised in the midwestern United States and sometimes have difficulty understanding the English of people in New England (where my wife and I live now). My “second language” is music so I appreciate a pastor who can preach in his mother tongue and translate into another language. Because the subject of this video is “evangelism”, I have a question about how people perceive what evangelism is. Suppose there are two people in a given town who decide to hold evangelistic meetings. The person on the east side of the river is a baptist and the person on the west side of the river is an adventist. How do you perceive the goals of those two people might differ or how their ways of measuring the success of their evangelistic work might differ? P.S. If someone who is not an adventist is willing to answer my question, please indicate what your background is.

Hello I am an adventist but I have been visiting other churches for the sole purpose of respecting a friend or a relative's request.. I have listened to their evangelism and it's quite similar, however I have found that most of their evangelism focuses on the healing of the soul while incorporating verses onto it.... While the adventist focuses about God's promises AND reminds us of the things we should and should not to. It also tells us to spread God's word and focuses about saving souls of other people... Evangelism might be slightly different towards other sects of christianity and they also have a lot in common... It is just a matter of where they are focusing more on.....

@@bunnzienyx7094 My wife and i lived in Salt Lake City from 1982 to 2007. Many of the LdS (Mormons) there had been taught that the variety of beliefs among protestants was proof positive that they were all wrong. I offered them another way of thinking about that remarkable variety/diversity. There are some denominations that exist for other reasons but many of the differences are more about differing emphases than anything else. Both Lutherans and baptists, for example, emphasize justification by grace alone through faith alone. My perspective is that baptists emphasize that doctrine more than Lutheran's do and that baptists emphasize some other doctrines less than Lutheran's do. When I ask people to define "eccumenism", the usual answer is, "laying aside our differences to work or worship together". As an alternative to that plan is to try to learn from each other.

@@rogermetzger7335 Learning from one another's doctrines is a great alternative plan until it backfires and it becomes a debate (the worst case scenario there is) If only both side are not taking it personally.. Make it a way as learning one another and what they could have missed but most I see are taking personally that affected their relationship as friends if there was on to begin

@@bunnzienyx7094 In the 1970s, a couple came into a piano store where I was tuning a piano and made an appointment for me to tune their piano. After I tuned their piano, I inquired as to whether the piano in their church building had been tuned regularly. It needed tuning so I offered to tune it at no charge. Within a few days we had set up a time to meet their pastor at the church building so he could let me in to tune the piano. I wasn’t expecting the couple to be there too but they were. As I started to disassemble the piano to tune it, the pastor started asking me questions about my beliefs. I answered his questions as best I could but it quickly became obvious that he was sure I was a lost soul and that he was determined to “convert” me. I don’t know how long the inquisition continued - it seemed like an hour but it may have been only twenty or thirty minutes. Well, he finally DID let me tune the piano but I didn’t offer to provide a “free” tuning in the future. Several months later, the above-mentioned couple came into that same piano store where we had first met. After a few pleasantries, I asked how their pastor was doing. They looked at each other for a few pregnant moments and then one of them said, “Wellll....After the way he treated you, we never went back." Why do people have to be so dogmatic?!!! A few decades later, after hearing a sermon by another pastor, I spoke with him privately to suggest he tone down the dogmatism. His reply? “People aren’t going to be very inspired if the preacher isn’t confident of his message.” It makes me sad but what can I do? I vote with my feet but I wish someone could convey to all of the Christian clergy worldwide that the decline in attendance is because people don’t need dogma as much as they need encouragement.
