I do share your opinion, I still think that some of the jötnar that Atreus will find in his journey will not be these gentle giants that he think they are, all the hatred, the fear, the suffering they had to endure, seeing some of them go to the dark side isn't crazy, just need to look at Jormungandr and how much he hates the aesir, these are godlike creatures that can live for milenia, have imensurable strength, and knowledge in magic that nobody else has, not only they can be a enemy as powerful as gods themselvs, but they can trick Atreus into hate gods and maybe even humanity, like them, this would put him in a dark path and would give his character the substance that he needs, that broken part that every god and man has to have.

The idea that Atreus was set up to be a darker character makes sense, considering that he is supposed to be Loki, who is evil in Norse mythology. Also, it makes sense that both Atreus and Thor were responsible for the lightning that occurred during the god of war 2018 game when Atreus yelled at Sindri while Thor was beating up Modi. I'm honestly glad that Atreus didn't go down a darker path, especially when Kratos himself was becoming better, which should reflect on his son Atreus.

Loki isn't evil in Norse Mythology though. He's neither good nor evil, but simply someone who causes chaos and mischief for the heck of it. A major facet of Norse Mythology is the dichotomy of order and chaos, and ultimately Loki contributes most of the chaos throughout the mythos. The only true 'evil' thing he does is trick Hodr into murdering Baldur, but that in itself was inevitable since Ragnarok was always going to happen. Loki was never an enemy of the Aesir, both helping and hindering them often by accident. Odin, however, sought to control everything and ended up imprisoning Loki's children who were destined to kill him and Thor in Ragnarok, which then caused Loki to turn against them which might've explained WHY he killed Baldur so that Ragnarok would happen and his children were eventually freed. Loki isn't 'evil' but rather acts as the vehicle for chaos and change in the myths, much like Atreus ends up doing in God of War.

Secondly, the same people who wrote God of war ps4 wrote ragnarok, just without Corey, the new director was not listed as 1 of the writers. Tyr wasn't a hippie, that was Odin being tyr so now you just made me think you didn't play or didn't pay attention. Thor was very dark in this 1 and portrayed as a drunk in the other 1 also. Lets be real, if you know about the mythology then you know Thor is always a drunk, it's not a surprise. Not to mention, Odin was everything he was setup to be in the other 1, the trickster idea came because he was gonna be interacting with atreus a lot, who is Loki, a trickster and they thought the role reversal would be fun to play around with

I love Atreus. On one hand, I think a lot of people is forgetting is that Atreus is a child, so he still young and under the protection of his father who wants nothing but the best for his son, and doesn’t want him to walk in his footsteps, which I understand furthermore, as I stated before you know, he’s just a kid, so if we get this spin off where he gets his own game, we can probably get a chance to see him make changes in mistakes without the personal influence of his father being around, and I think that people who don’t understand as if they wasn’t a kid themselves it causes people to miss the bigger picture of his development and who knows maybe we might get a darker version of him, but it all depends on how the creators are going to write this story for him and maybe there’s a reason why they didn’t dive into that yet we don’t know that we don’t work there and we’re not there to hear their ideals on how they want to portray him so we just gotta take what they give us and see where they go from it. He still has a lot of growing up to do anyway so you don’t have to beat the character down so badly because of how the story was told or whatever decisions was made for his personal development.

Here's my theory about why the storms are triggered by his emotions, I think it's due to his lineage of being part Greek (and IMO part Aesir I think she was Thors sister and caused the death of Fjorgen but that's a theory we can discuss in the comments) because just like the Greeks when they were in there death beds the nature of the world changes because they were an element holding something back. Except because of Atreus's lineage he has more control over that power, in fact that power might even be way more powerful than we think it is. Which is why I don't think the next game should be a Atreus game because from a marketing perspective there's nothing players can grab on to, so what they can do is explore that power in a prequel (Faye spinoff) that explores that power and it's connections and how it relates to Atreus.

Honestly, the only way I would accept atreus going through anything darker is if he's off on his own, like far away from kratos because as long as kratos is around he isn't letting anything happen to atreus, he lost kids before and he ain't trying to lose another. If he goes through anything super dark and he's around or near kratos then the entire story and character development is moot.

I've been saying for YEARS that this Atreus character is going to become evil. I'm not going to go into my entire storyline/arch about this but I get a full on Anakin Skywalker vibe from him. He knows to do well but his extreme power makes him arrogant and careless. Soon he will be too powerful for even Kratos to possibly confront...too powerful to even control the evil himself...and the evil will control him.

We have already gone through two whole character arcs of him learning to be more mature and less defiant though….. how is this a productive move from a character development standpoint? This is complete insanity
@Sinsae717
10 ай бұрын
@@noahsibahi-jackson8757 YES!!! IT IS INSANITY. It is also terribly interesting. For the story to continue at a refreshing rate and to keep us as the audience enthralled there has to be some type of conflict between Atreus and Kratos. Whenever children graduate high school and go off on their own they do things they do not want their parents to know about. In this case we're talking about Atreus...possibly experimenting with dark magic. This could also be him engaging in a side quest to retrieve the mask again. If I know Santa Monica they're not just going to let the mask fall by the wayside as part of the storyline. That mask in mythology is synonymous with Loki. Also at the beginning of Ragnarok we see Loki forshadowed as having horns in the intro of the game...hinting to some possible evil future. The potential storyline of the God of War Ragnarok sequel involving Atreus turning evil is quite intriguing. Considering the depth of the characters and the mythology, there could be various ways the narrative unfolds: Internal Conflict: Atreus might grapple with his dual nature, being part god and part giant. This inner turmoil could lead him down a darker path, especially if he discovers certain truths about his lineage or if external forces manipulate him. External Influence: External forces or characters could exploit Atreus' vulnerabilities or his godly abilities, driving him towards a darker disposition. This could involve someone from the Norse pantheon attempting to sway him for their own purposes. Misguided Intentions: Atreus might have genuine intentions to do good or to fulfill some greater prophecy but could adopt morally questionable methods, gradually losing sight of his initial goals in pursuit of power or control. Betrayal or Tragedy: Circumstances or events might lead Atreus to feel betrayed or experience a significant personal tragedy, causing him to lose faith in his father, Kratos, and guiding him towards a darker path seeking vengeance or retribution. Redemption Arc: His descent into darkness could be a pivotal part of a broader character arc, eventually leading to a redemptive journey where he confronts his own demons and seeks forgiveness or reconciliation with Kratos. The key could lie in the complexity of the father-son relationship between Kratos and Atreus, as well as the influences of the gods and the world around them. The narrative might explore themes of power, destiny, and the struggle between good and evil within oneself. Ultimately, how the story unfolds and whether Atreus truly becomes "evil" might depend on the choices made by the game developers and the nuances they wish to bring to the characters and their journey.

I wish they let us see cutscenes of him destroying the dark elves while Kratos was in the Light. He hardly seemed able to hold the Axe steady, but was able to kill tons of the same folks who had him hemmed up earlier. I think he is a lot more powerful than we have seen in both games. Something is fishy. Is he Odin in disguise???(Dun Dun Dunnnn) Seriously though, I think Loki is hiding his true power. I think he knew he was a God before Kratos told him. He can talk to animals, which is not normal. Hear their frickin souls speak! He is the God of Mischief. I believe he had to know something was different about him and his parents. He's seen both of them do amazing things. His dad casually carried a giant tree in the beginning of GOW2018. His mom casts spells like the protection stave of trees like it was nothing. He told Freya that Father has always been strong, meaning he knows what Kratos does is not normal. When Kratos told him they are gods, he simply asked if he could turn into an animal. When I think of the scene, it makes me think he was already aware of ...something... and wanted to see what his father thought. He wasn't surprised at first, then started to act like he was. If they do make a Loki game, they might address this through time travel. Maybe Older Loki meets Atreus and schools him, helps him out here and there. Blows the horn, maybe. (Got that one from a Cooking with Kratos video). Who's knows, we shall see...

I really do hope Atreus goes down a darker path at some point. Kratos may have raised him to be better than himself but his son is growing up and has a mind of his own. He shouldn't always be there to hold his hand when things get rough or go wrong. I really like Atreus but he made alot of mistakes throughout Ragnarok, and the game's narrative never seems to hold him accountable. Withholding information from the rest of the group, releasing Grom, and while it isn't entirely his fault since he couldn't have possibly known Tyr was Odin, letting an enemy into a friend's home which resulted in the death of said friend's brother. Maybe Heimdall was onto something when he said that Atreus was 'Chaos in a spiffy archer suit'. After all it is the nature of a thing that matters instead of its form... I just hope at some point in the future that Atreus being Loki entails something more than what was shown. Because honestly, God of War Raganarok felt alot tamer than it should've been. Things were going right where they should've went very wrong(Grom) and things that went wrong were downplayed or swept under the rug(Atreus meeting with Freya despite being advised not to). It also doesn't help that alot of things that were set up in the first game was never addressed. There are apparently consequences to killing a god, but their deaths don't feel like they have a big impact as opposed to the Greek ones, where with the death of each god, a plague was spawned, or nature started to decay and fall apart.
