He's absolutely right. Back when I was in the military, I was able to build raw muscle from basic cardio and pull ups. I tried a similar work out at age 32, where I basically did 100 push-ups a day for a month. Soon, everyone I knew had started commenting on my muscles. People would later ask me what I did at the gym. Humbly, I'd respond by explaining that I didn't have an active gym membership and that I'd just exercise at home.

@@namhuynguyen7606 you'd just have to adjust to the current conditions with reps/sets/rest ratio/angles & leverages/methods, not saying you should or shouldn't do what or what not but as age builds up you'd definitely need to tone down certain aspects & that's probably the wonderful thing with calisthenics as the variables are all within means of control to create the optimal biomechanical tension needed to either gain or retain muscular function in your own goals (specificity in training to produce result in goal)

High reps like what they did can provide a number of strength benefits other than hypertrophy. It's not much of a stretch to imagine the potential and endurance of the biceps went up due to their proximity. Could also have been because of hand strength and/or a more efficient cardiovascular system. You can watch the benefits I mentioned explained better here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/y5tot2dsaX6lq5g

After COVID made going to the gyms less appealing I switched to exclusively calisthenics. I bought a pull up bar which helps do deeper pushups and makes situps easier to lock your feet and I feel the difference. A full body workout each day I wakeup has improved me pretty quickly as opposed to getting sore on machines trying to over do it.

Sick progression man! Though I'll do say, you don't necessarily have to do hundreds of repetitions of push ups really because the extra reps can just end up being junk volume. A fun tip I'd like to share if you tryna really build up the pecs even further is by doing your reps at a medium paced and especially involving with isometric base training where you will hold the reps till 3-5 seconds when you go down and as you push back up hold the rep while contracting your muscles hard as you can also for 3-5 seconds. Your repetitions and sets will go down, but at least the quality of training will hit hard! Though it depends on the goals you're aiming for really, more reps at continuous speed = muscular endurance, slower/medium speed = muscular hypertrophy/strength. Keep up the work my guy!

@Royce Reid If you want to add size, then you must get stronger. This is basic science. Every person that is very strong, is also very huge. Look at every person that can bench 300 lbs. They look big right? Size = more strength potential
@roycereidpt
2 жыл бұрын
@@Ivan-vw1bw sorry but that is a flawed argument. Of course more muscle mass means more strength potential, however if you don't train to pursue that strength potential, you will be big, strong, but not as strong as what your muscles are capable of. Someone who is looking to purely just build muscle will train differently to someone looking to just improve their strength

A few caveats to add: A 15 year olds metabolism is the main culprit here so keep in mind that if your around 27 or older you can do the same routine but you wont get near in results if your eating and sleeping poorly. At 15 your body is still so fresh and resilient in terms of metabolism, fat burning, digestion and muscle growth that you can damn near eat anything and not put an ounce of fat or weight on.

I used to do a similar workout. I did 500 push-ups a day, as well as 500 sit-ups, 500 squats, and a 10km run. I also did not use any AC or heating, to strengthen the mind. I made sure to eat 3 meals a day, but just a banana in the morning was fine. The most important part was sticking to it. Even when my arms started clicking from all the push-ups, I still kept going. Even when I couldn’t feel my legs from all the squats, I still kept going. After about a year and half later I realized, I had lost all my hair, and gained unimaginable strength. I could defeat any of my enemies with just a single punch. If you want to get fit like this, you’ll need to train like hell, and never give up.
