Make sure the plant gets a good 6 hours of sun a day. A little slow release or liquid fertiliser should also help. They do only grow around 2 inches (5cm) a year..... Also, a few varieties are around Crosbys compact and C.ovata argentea, are two, and they tend to grow more slowly......

That should work as well. As long as the soil is not to wet fro the first few weeks so that the break can callus over and prevent rot. Having said that, we have sometimes broken branches off a large outdoor specimen (accidentally) and just put them in a pile of other garden waste, and they have sent out roots..... So they can be very easy. The callusing is the bit that really makes sure it works.

Thank you for posting this! But why cut off the unwanted leaves and not just pull the entire leaf off?

We find that it not to damage the stem as much, and also the plant is more likely to send out roots from that part of the stem (node) if its not damaged.
