I‘m so glad you mentioned syngonium in particular! I currently have an albo in pon that‘s VERY unruly and on a very ugly, very tall pole because I just kept trailing it up out of laziness. It has lost a fiew of its lower leaves, so now it basically looks like sh**, just a giant pole with a few leaves on it 🤣 I‘m gonna chop it up and plant the cuttings into the pot directly and hope for the best 😃

Could you share some information about the nutrients and general care tips when transitioning to pon? Really liking your channel also. You obviously know what you're doing, your plants are stunning.

I'm not OP but I use almost exclusively pon, non-hydro--I just wash off soil roots as thoroughly as possible and repot in pon. That goes for everything I have, from basic monstera & pothos to micans, verrucosum & alocasias. There's two nice things about it: basic pon is fertilized, and the plants tend to flourish very quickly. Second (bearing in mind I use it as a soil replacement and not semi-hydro) pon doesn't compact and smother a plant the way old soil can. It wicks water quite well so if you treat it like regular dirt and take out your liner, flush it once a week or however often you'd water your soil, it is VERY hard to overwater like you can with compacted dirt. It is generally just really easy and forgiving. Funnily enough, it was a gamechanger for me by accident: my husband ordered pon instead of the potting soil I'd requested. I had no idea what it was but it switched me from brown thumb overwaterer to green thumb very quickly!

I currently have a Florida Ghost rooting in water that I am considering moving into Pon. Happy to see that you were successful with yours. Thank you for your insight and suggestions. I appreciate all the information that you provide. Cheers from across the pond!

Instead of pon, I'm using seramis for semihydro. I did put already few cuttings rootin into it and I found out, that the cutting is putting more energy into roots growth, than into the growing point. So it takes longer for the new growth to show. But, after the roots are established, the new growth is soooo much bigger. My majestic has the new leaves and stem width the same size as original cutting. The longer waiting is really worth.

If you root directly in pon, should the water level be higher up than the bottom third of the pot? The ‘rocks’ tend to look rather dry to me

Going to try rooting ficus triangularus directly in non fertilized Pon, sitting in a covered fish tank. Will use root hormone as well. Great video btw!

Hi, great to see it Can work. The cuttings you have in clear cups. Do you stand them in water or just water from the top and leave a small amount in the bottom. I’ve had success with Pon with my monstera albo , took a long time to get going but now finally showing signs of growth but that’s in a self watering pot that I can’t see the roots of. I like the idea of clear cups for the cuttings . Allowing a better idea of growth down below . Stay safe Gords

I have my root cuttings in clear cups, filled with pond and then filled halfway with water and they are doing absolutely great. Lots of roots and nice foliage.

Ho. I'm just starting my journey with pon, I'm very unlucky with propagation even a water one. Can you recommend prop in pon scindapsus treubii moonlight?
@Houseplantygoodness

do you have more than one cutting the moonlight is tricky at the best of times to propagate so if you will use pon to do it, can you keep it in a prop box or a plastic clear bag to keep the humidity up whilst it roots?

The Lechuza pon contains a slow release fertilizer already. does this not hurt baby roots ,I guess?
