Bespoke tailoring student here. Proper Cloth is worth it. It really is the best value in custom shirting. Getting a dress shirt to fit that good on the 1st fitting at that cost is pretty good. 3 fittings on a shirt is pretty normal when trying to hone in a perfectly tailored fit. In terms of your sloped shoulder, I agree that you probably shouldn't adjust it anymore. It's fine enough as is for a made to measure. If they were drafting a new bespoke pattern, then it could be alleviated but that's a whole another echelon on shirting. I ordered a green and white Bengal stripe with a contrasting club collar and french cuff. I selected their thick fused lining and thick MOP buttons. They're perfect. I had gotten my measurements done by another tailor and my shirt fit just about perfect on my first shot. If you don't live near NY, I would call a local high end tailor and ask if they would measure you. I just would avoid their Smart Fit option and just take the extra effort to get proper measurements done.

I am a very big and tall guy. Despite customization, the first fitting length was like a standard shirt. I had to add inches more length. Following their fitting instructions, they anticipate shrinkage but it was a little more than they anticipated, it’s the Non-Iron Supima Shirt shirt. Fabric quality is stellar! I called proper cloth and easily got a hold of them. Cool rep, asked if I wanted to video chat so he can see the shirt. I said no, the collar needed 1/2” more for shrinkage so I asked for 3/4”. He also asked about the sleeve length, like he knew it would be long, and it was but the 1/2-3/4 of an inch was ok by me as the cuff falls on the back of my wrist nicely. Can’t wait to wash and try this one… I am excited about the fit and will honestly order 2-3 more once it comes out of the laundry.

Lookin' good, my preppy cohort! I was looking into Proper Cloth, and even though I live in Canada, I was planning on making nearly my entire shirt wardrobe Proper Cloth, because they have so many options and I respect what they do.

Thank you! I think that is definitely viable. Not necessarily an entirely “preppy” brand but you can curate their items to be that you have that adjacent style going for you.

Great review! My recommendation is start dry cleaning your shirts, they come out better and wont shrink on you

If you want custom shirts and don’t live near their showroom, the best option is to find a good tailor in your area and have them perform all of your body measurements. This way you’ll have correct measurements that you can use with multiple vendors and suppliers.

Proper cloth is a million times better, that's all I wear to work for the past 2 years and still looks very nice

@@edcastaneda9708 thanks for let me know. I had the same experience with CT. Still looks new after 2 years. So my concern was more focused on material, bottoms, stitch length, etc.
