Thanks man, I'm picking the tool up today. Have to gap my 1 step colder plugs for my 500 whp e85 wrx set up and have messed up my last 3 sets of plugs causing misfires recently. Big thanks

cool thanks. also the metal bit you were tapping is called the ground wire. not the other electrode. the only electrode is the iridium wire :)

WRONG ! YOU do not TAP spark plugs to close the gap. You use your gaping tool. Tapping the plug could / would damage it.

You know why the coin gappers comes with a hole? Its porpouse is not to hang in on the wall, is use to open up the gap without touching the electrode

How? The hole sides are too thick to slide under the electrode tip. Tried it. Makes no sense.

You were half correct. You use the slotted plug wrench you were using to open and close the gap. There is no tapping needed. You don't gap with feeler gauges either; coin or otherwise. Always use the slotted wrench to adjust after you determined the gap is too small or large. Sparks flourish from sharp corners/edges. Plug wear often rounds the electrodes over time, or you can damage soft metal when dragging feelers across it. Worn Copper plugs can be filed flat and regapped. If the outer electrode on a traditional plug is damaged and you are in a pinch, you can side-gap the plug. Side gapping causes uneven wear and will require shorter intervals between maintenance. There are reports that side-gapped plugs improve performance. Some companies even go so far as to sell side-gapped plugs. Often they come with multiple electrodes to overcome the short comings of uneven wear due to side-gapping. "BOSCH" +2 and +4 as well as "E3" brand plugs. I wouldn't recommend side gapped plugs from BOSCH or E3. BOSCH has issues with improper heat range or Gaps out of spec from the factory. E3 will be a pain to maintain to get the full life, and your moneys worth out of the plug. I personally use NGK in everything from Hondas to Chevys. NGK plugs are sometimes rebranded and sold under different names.

TURN 4 TURN so after the gap is open what do you use to measure it ? is it safe to use the coin measure at that point? I just ordered some ngk plugs and I don't want to mess them up.

LMAO. I'm late to the party. But how the heck do you figure out, if you gap correctly without using the feeler gauges? 🤔 Eyeball it? 🧐 Lol. There are other videos showing that process. I think this is what this vid was missing.

best way to gap them in this case is go back to the store and buy new spark plugs iridium spark plugs are destroyed when you gap them thats why they are pre gapped

iridium sparks dont need to gap comes all ready from factory car agencies can tell you

Not entirely true. They may come gapped from the factory but when they arrived they can be all over the place. Mine aren't reading the proper gap length.

uzomad during shipping when these things are tossed around that "pre-gap" thing doesnt mean a big fat shit. I gap mine or at least check them. As long as you dont touch the center electrode youll be fine.. ran many iridium plugs in custom turbo applications and power could change big time from different gaps..

Wrong. I literally just called NGK and my plugs have to be gapped for my application. If I just stuck them in and went I would be running a gap that's 25% too small.

you will also definitely need to close the gap some if you are running them in a car with a lot of boost.

Yes, did my MHD flash and replaced coils and plugs but am getting some misfires. Didn't gap them to the .22 and they are factory at .30. Now got to redo the install. This is N54
