Yes. I realize that I called this game Talisman a couple of times. Lol.

Thanks for this. I love this game solo. I had bought the expansions and was really disappointed in how little they added with extra fiddly rules that ruined the experience so I shelved them. But, now I can see how I can use parts of the expansions to enhance the core game without having to mess with the simple elegance of the core game. Going to incorporate treasure island to my game to spice it up a bit and try out the racial additions to my standard characters. Well done. Subscribed.

What I like about this game is you can play it even with eurogamers. In my experience they would detest anything so random as Talisman but Prophecy gives them opportunities to calculate their moves and play to win while to me it gives the feel of epic adventure. Beause of that I enjoy it more than Talisman.

Thanks for watching. Never heard it pronounced, so don't know how to say it. That's what I did. :) It's not a common name to hear said where I live. I also mispronounce words a lot, and don't go back to edit because I don't have a computer to edit on. :D

Tom Zebro do you ever play with the extra board? I almost never do. I only use Treasure Island.

@@TheDungeonDive No. I think the extra board adds too much to the length of the game.

Thank you for the video. I'm not sure how can someone can like adventure game like Talisman which its mechanics are SO random.. (I also like it a lot because of the nostalgia, but that is where its end. Never tried it with expansions though..) Nevertheless, I'm curious: So you like Runebound 2nd edition more then 3rd..?
@TheDungeonDive

I have quite a few videos about Talisman where I talk about why I like it so much. But then again, I want as much random stuff in a game as possible. I don't play board games for tactics and strategy. I'm all about random encounters and reacting to things that happen to my characters. I like RB 2nd more than 3rd.

@@TheDungeonDive I wish you also had a video of why do you like Runebound 2nd more than the 3rd..

I don’t usually make comparison videos, as they usually just upset people. They’re both great games. I still need to do a video for 3rd. The main reason I prefer 2nd is all the expansions. So many cool things.
@wishmeheaven

@@TheDungeonDive I thought that you like it more because of the mechanics. Runebound 3rd has also expansions. Videos which upset people? To each has his opinion and taste. How can someone get upset for other's opinion. A comparison is quite interesting even without your individual opinion, But regarding your opinion, as long as you know how to explain it in details, and what are the circumstances and reasons which make you like one game more than the other - you may do it freely and without any worries. No one can argue with a detailed opinion. The worst thing that can happen is some kind debating and discussion. That's not something to be concerned about. Diverse opinions are actually tend to turn issues to more interesting and colorful.. Cheers

Both have some expansions, but Runebound 2 has many more, and better ones. You would be surprised by what people get upset over. I've received death threats and pleads to kill myself over my opinions of board games on KZitem and BGG. It's not worth the hassle, as this is only a hobby for me.

I don't get why the redesign has so big player cards... when it already demands quite a lot of space with the number of items and skills you are going to acquire.

They used to be squares with side around 8-10 cm. I know these gigantic would have made needless space issues on various tables we played at. Especially with realms.

In terms of visual appeal between Talisman, Runebound and Prophecy, this one is third rank by a LARGE margin imho. Talisman and Runebound are so much more immersive through their detailed and evocative art style. While I like most of Vlaada's games (at least the later ones, especially Mage Knight) I don't think I would enjoy this one very much. Thanks for the review!

I absolutely hate the term "ameritrash." It REALLY doesn't make me want to play a game described as "trash" or the implication that American games are "trash."
@TheDungeonDive

We own the term now. It was once used in a derogatory manner, but we reclaimed it as a word of pride. Similar to how trash cinema and pulp fiction is a whole genre to love and cherish. I love my pop-cultural ghettos.

@@TheDungeonDive i feel like that's a bit of a cop out and doesn't really remove it's negative connotation.. feels more like saying, "yeah, American games are subpar garbage but i like them anyway." like comparing McDonald's cheeseburger to a steak. it's just sound very elitist and off-putting.
@TheDungeonDive

I'm just letting you know the history of the word. I didn't write it, just relaying it. This entire channel is devoted to loving Ameritrash games and pulp fiction; I've spent many decades and most of my life's earnings on these things :). There is nothing negative about the word at all anymore. All that ended about 15 years ago. Pulp fiction, trash cinema, and Ameritrash games are all things to be loved and celebrated, and that's what I do.
