Angell Mac the western world doesn't welcome "kooks" like Stan. His thinking is far too out there and extreme for western thinking. These are realms the western world are scared of hence the persecution and stigma of such experiences for centuries. Remember we (the western world) reduce the world to matter and these experiences cannot be explained in materialistic thinking even though we all experience phenomena throughout our life which can not be explained in such a way. It's a shame...

Jeff Hoops I hope that in the future (albeit likely the very distant future) this will change. I feel as though this cannot be ignored, and that there will be many more people who enter into these kinds of realms and realise this for themselves. I genuinely believe, as Grof said, that it is possibly even a mere step of evolution, that the growth of interest in this area is a step forward in humanity’s acknowledgment of the collective consciousness. You say western societies will never accept such a thing, and that it is too far out, but was the same not said of Socrates? People were so threatened and put out by his suggestions that they executed him. Surely you cannot expect a different attitude to this further advancement in exploration of consciousness (beside the killing, of course). All I will say is look how the likes of Socrates are regarded now. I do think it would help for practices such as Transpersonal psychology to be integrated into the training of all psychiatrists/ psychologists/ psychotherapists.

Fascinating.Humility par excellence.we know nothing the circle is never ever closed as we grope searching and searching.in this journey may we realise certain things but no place for pride for complaisancy therefore we need to embrace tolerate and keep the animation going.i really enjoy this presentation and this paradigm connects with me with immediacy. 👍 At one time I thought of consciousness as "non-local." It's funny to me how the idea of "local" or "non-local" ever was something I even considered a reasonable question to ponder. Consciousness simply is or is not. To even attempt to measure and give names to ideas about levels of awareness seems like a great source of entertainment but not likely to produce much more than an unknowable knowing. What a magnificent find! 😉

I LOVE MEN WHO ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR FEMININE COUNTERPARTS - Christo and Jeanne Claude , and now Stanislav and Christina Grof . ANGELS ALL
@theinkbrain

@ Jennifer Arnold How do you know they were "feminine"? The definition of feminine is "having qualities or an appearance traditionally associated with women, especially delicacy and prettiness." And how do you know they were "counterparts"? The definition of 'counterpart' is "a person or thing holding a position or performing a function that corresponds to that of another person or thing in another place." Neither of these words fit a woman who is a equal partner.

I disagree that we'd laugh if someone examined a TV at the molecular level trying to find the source of the picture. The analogy is incorrect. It's a reasonable effort and we'd only laugh if we already knew that a signal was being transmitted to the receiver. With consciousness, we do not know that. In fact, believing consciousness is "in the air everywhere" is as much of an either/or assumption as assuming it comes from brain structure. Our tools are suited to examining molecular structure so I do not fault the researchers for a material examination of the brain. Foolish, though, to get adamant on either assumption. Our ignorance is vast and we can only kinda know anything, if that. Best to not have any beliefs at all because when you have one, more correctly, it has you. On the other hand, an experience of consciousness apart from the brain is reasonable proof that it can't strictly be from brain structure.

In the list at entro, have done all but one, #3 sessions with psychedelic substances? Holotropic Breathwork, yes with similar expanded awareness. Have been with this most "wholesome" man for three different weekends 👍❤ Revealing my Near Death at BIRTH, delayed by busy doctor, recorded (given to Stan a CD copy) of parents individualy; which allowed the memory of my choice to be born. Because of a betrayal, given the choice to be born or not! Father said, "you were only blue for a minute and a half, then the Doctor got you back! Considering the context of my choice, was it the Doctor! Navy veteran, Missionary child, NDEs, witness (shunned by inquisition with all bridges of trust burned) 9th year of solitude❤ (tools of inner journey 👍) What does that reveal of the "Old psychiatry & psychology of Christian CULTURE! Medieval sadistic of the inquisitor's stone?". Lucky to have been in weekend when this book released & he talked about it! To my surprise later, reading it, he had given the whole book to us in that seminar AND seeing the same in this KZitem! 😍 INSIGHT: Recently, KZitem recommended "Plato's CAVE"; Which as a mission child am a "3rd culture kid", a book; which I belong to neither my home culture or childhood culture, but the 3rd combined. Therefore, in Plato's CAVE, I was thrust out of the cave into blue skies and sunshine! Returning to the chained watching the SHADOWS of reality, created from the fire light by (people of CONTROLLING POWER), both ATTACKED for REVEALING a DIFFERENT perspective! This Plato's CAVE is why (a psychiatrist friend from the country I grew up in) checked to see that [Stanislav Grof M.D., Ph. D. has with all his publications been esponged from the AMA!] (I recently exposed this to the VA, that is STARTING from the beginning, research on chemical use for PTSD! IDIOTS, as explained in the old movie, "Article 99". I have read all, but maybe 2 of Stan's books, of which my psychiatrist friend went threatening not, but Holotropic Breathwork was so similar, I later replied to my friend then, "I recognize that you have gone so much HIGHER in EDUCATION, however, I have gone so much DEEPER THAN YOU!" Topic, ended quietly 👍

I think that it has now entered our thinking that fetuses do have feelings and experiences and learn in the womb, and that they do retain elements of their pre-natal life. In fact, the human predisposition to narcotic substances has its beginnings in the womb.
