Great information. Rebuilding my late father-in-laws 99 Laramie for my son. He remembers riding in it when he was in preschool. Now we are rebuilding for fun. Although he wants it to look cool with the big tires & wheels. Love your videos!

Awesome project. These trucks really are easy to work on and parts are not terribly expensive.

I bought a used 2008 Cummins Mega Cab, previous owner was running 38s on 18-inch wheels. He had rebuilt the 68RFE transmission twice. First thing I did was go back to the stock tire size, on the stock 17-inch wheels. Better fuel economy, no rubbing, and lower trans temps. Hopefully problem solved.

Nice lookin truck! Just picked a Black 1996 like yours and was debating on doing the exact same lift and tires, now I may go to a 6" lift with a long arm..... Hmmmm decisions, decisions...... With 4:10's it really needs bigger tires. Carli recommends 5.75 backspace to help with rubbing by tucking the tires in 3/4".....

You needed slightly longer control arms or radius arms with the lift. It moves the wheels forward.

i believe you needed to account for longer control arms to center the tire in the middle of the wheel well

Hey thanks for this video. I just bought a 96 1500 4x4 short bed single cab. I been tossing around 33-40 inch tires. The sad part is the price from a 33 vs a 37 and you're only gaining 2 more inches in height.

how r the cam bolts holding up with your aftermarket front control arms? r u gonna use blocks on the rear axle or try to get some tall leaf springs to put directly onto the rear axle ?
@dustydiesel564

The cam bolts work just perfect with the control arms. No issue at all. I plan to replace the rear springs and factory block with a set of Carli Leaf springs. It is my understanding that the Carli springs will provide a big improvement in ride quality.

@dustydiesel564

I plan on doing the Carli Replacement rear springs at some point. It really is not far off level at the moment and doesn't look bad at all but the front rides so well it makes the stock rear springs feel worse than ever.

@@dustydiesel564 I highly recommend looking at Dodge Offroad’s shackle flip for the rear springs. Just did mine, made a very very noticeable difference in ride quality, gives the rear a small lift, and gets rid of those massive lift blocks which helps a ton with axle wrap.

Need adjustable control arms. They push your tires away from the fender. I put a 6” lift with 35’s rubbed bad. Old guy told me needs longer control arms to push front axle away
