In your opinion, is Rio Rancho a safe and promising area to live in? I am really looking for ways to leave California-but I’m torn and do not really know in what order to do things. For example, do you sell your home first , then relocate find a job in the new area and apply for a home loan thereafter?

@@AllAboutABQ live in Colorado Springs right now and have amazing mountain views . We are at least a year out from moving and just trying to determine if NM is right for us. Looking for something similar in mountain view but close enough to shopping and restaurants. Home with large open concept rooms and master suit that would be good for both my husband and I to work from home. Also enough land that you feel space but not so much that would be major upkeep. Right now we have 1/3 acre lot which is nice as we have 3 dogs. Any areas you’d recommend we look into first to get a good feel for pricing?

Package delivery theft and mail theft is up in the NW area. Catalytic converter theft is rampant. Get a iron security gate for your front door. Lock your door immediately behind you. Don't let anyone into your house. Be very careful at the dog parks and city parks. Check the crime maps in the areas you frequent. Network with your neighbors.

I wonder if you could post a video about Placitas? Or, perhaps you already have. Although we live in Phoenix, we have family in ABQ, and my wife and I are contemplating a move to the area in a few years. Or, perhaps there are other areas in the N Valley or RR where you get that Placitas feel, i.e., acre lots, great views, natural vegetation. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it. We really want that feeling of being away from other people, but we like the convenience of the city. The East Mountain area is nice, but we have our eye on the places mentioned above. Thanks! You didn’t mention Burkue is short for Albuquerque, theirs a city code for no building over two floors , and everything has to be painted earth tone colors, majority is Hispanic and native Indian , crime rate is high walking around at night isn’t the safest 40 years ago it was pretty tough and I’m sure that hasn’t gotten better , 99% of cops are Hispanic I can think of way better places to live that’s just me , I lived there back in 80s a lot of small villages , bigger towns like Santa Fe, espenola, chimayo, my father line photography and we went to a small Indian village to take pictures and we were attacked by pellet guns different culture and traditions

I’ve lived in every quadrant of Albuquerque over the last eight years and the desert New Mexico charm on the west side trumps the more generic urban feel on the east side. Living on the east side is definitely more convenient though, as it has more of the established businesses and a well-organized street layout.
