Yes, I agree. You should not have an opinion. Being a Marine is about the collective. It’s about the mission. It’s not about you. If you have an individualistic mentality you will not be able to survive a war situation. When I went in in 2002, it was just after 9/11 and discipline was extremely important. I deployed to Iraq and volunteered to search Iraqi women outside the wire. This was before we had the lionesses. I can attest to the fact that having discipline and a group mentality is extremely important as a Marine. You’re part of a team serving your country for a higher mission.

I think one thing you need to learn in life is that sometimes expressing your opinion isn’t a good thing even if you feel a certain type of way, other people don’t care, and they never have and never will. It’s the harsh reality of the real world.

Don't get flustered ... the civilian life isn't much better. Dealing with bullshit liar's is constant as no one's held responsible as in the Corps transparency is taken fore granted yet it's there. Biles ( bills) income becomes an issue in civilian life as you stated not as much in the Corps. Over all after the Corps. It's like a breath of fresh air the freedom and shit but after the first couple breaths it's gone, the Corps you realize wasn't that bad. Stay in there getting up may be the hardest part but after that it's down hill. Hoorah.2/5 G co 0311

No, when you’re in bootcamp you don’t have any communication with the outside world. You can only talk through letters. Once you reach your unit you can live together. Typically takes about 6 months between bootcamp and when you get to your duty station. Sometimes it could be longer depending on your job
