2023 14 Year Update: kzitem.info/news/bejne/u4GExZOspnlhaaQ To everyone who comments on the music... at the time I recorded this video (over 10 years ago) I was using a dying camera that left a horrible high-pitched screeching noise in the background of every video. That sound is what the music is covering. If you listen closely enough you can still hear it and it is AWFUL. Trust me, the music is better.

your thick locks are GORGEOUS!!! So luscious and defiant, and you are absolutely beautiful. I have very , very fine hair and of course have very thin microlocks. I wanted thicker locks but went a different route. I agree that my hair probably could not support the weight of thicker locks but I see your locks and think automatically: Queen!! Rock those locks, girl!!

girl thnx for your honesty and intelligence. Thank God someone else out here understand. I've watched a video before where a girl was saying she chose thick locs but I had the correct her cuz her hair mad thick so I told her she can't choose thick locs when her hair already thick but she chose to do big locs a fewer locs and I also told her she will be misleading ppl cuz someone with thin hair gonna put in 50 locs like her and expect the same results and it's never gonna happen.

Man, I see people rag on thick locks and how they are stupid/non traditional/etc. Yours are gorgeous! Sometimes I regret mine coming out so thick, but then you remind me EXACTLY why I don't mind and love them lol. Also, love your style! ♥ It's how I'd like to dress on a daily basis once I lose more weight and get money to change out my wardrobe ;3 You're adorbs!

You make some very great points! I'm loc'n my hair this weekend and your video gave me great insight on the width I've decided on. I think my texture and thickness is perfect for thick locs. Thank you Sis!
@4mydearlady

I agree with this video. Locs have to suit your hair texture and density. I saw someone on KZitem with fine thinner hair with 40-something locs and this person's locs are scalpy. I also saw someone with fine soft, sort of thin hair and her thick locs are gorgeous. Mine are medium thick. Meaning a roller set doesn't last long on me. But I can get my hair in a ponytail. I made them a little thicker in the back and crown because my hair is thicker there. I made them thinner in the front because I don't have as much density there. My hair is too fine for very thick locs but too thick in the back to have 100 locs there. I just don't have the patience/time to deal with maintaining a bunch of little locs. I only have 54 locs - but they look full on me. So everyone has to do what's best for their hair.

Thank you! I had got some many negative comments from (family mostly) about having thick locs. I have very thick hair and I do not regret getting thick locs. I guess family just really gets to me because they are my family and their opinion means a lot. But enough is enough. I was going to restart them in a smaller size, until I came across your video. Thank you sis!

Melissa Wallace Aww you're so welcome! I know it can be hard when your family doesn't support what you want to do with your hair but at the end of the day you're the one wearing it, not them. Show them how beautiful your hair is by being confident in it. Stay strong! I'll be here for an encouraging word if you need it =)

This is the first video of yours that I have seen. I absolutely LOVELOVELOVE your locs! They are so beautiful! I started mine with 2 strand twists too but I thought they would be too thick so I took them out and put in coils instead. I have very thick hair also so mine still came out... well what I think is a bit thicker than most, but you make me want them so much thicker now!

Love your locs and I love the song selection... none shall pass instrumental by Aesop rock. You have a beautiful taste of music:-) I'm about 3 months into my loc journey. Im doing the tam rubbing method and it's working out pretty good for me. Tho, some do unravel when I wash(which is annoying) but all I can do is be patient and let my hair loc on there own.

Hey, Caasi!! Hope you're faring well 😊! Here I am on this video, 4 yrs later.... Not sure if you'll even see this comment lol. But I just got my locs about 6 months ago and I can attest to everything you said 😮!! I have super thick and coarse 4c hair, somehow I thought getting locs would change the texture somewhat, but I was SO WRONG!! It feels like it got thicker somehow. It definitely takes SUPER LONG to dry, so if you could tell me more about that "bonnet" I think you said you used to dry your hair I would really appreciate it.It's so difficult for me to style, but then again I don't mind that bc I always hated doing my hair bc I'm very tender headed, which is why I got them anyway (so I wouldn't need to worry about combing them ever again 😑). Thanks for this video, beautiful 😍!

I put olive oil in my hair and the Shit straighten my hair at the root...I am upset because this happened to me 6 months ago. The last time it was an African American Oil of the Hair Industry....I cut about 7 inches off because the oil straighten my ends too...So I decided I would only use Food Grade Olive oil. The Oil was refined Olive oil. Low and behold, my head was on fire like a relaxer was on my scalp. I hurried and washed my locks, and my hair was silky fine and straight...I dont get it.. How can oil relax your hair?
