Pro: The weather Con: The weather Windiest city I've lived in. Ice storms in the winter. Summer is nice but seriously hot. (I love summer though). Tornados. 30 degrees on Sunday, 85 on tues, 65 on weds, Snow on thurs, 90 on Friday and 31 on Saturday. You can definitely experience all the seasons in a week😂. Not very diverse. Its majority white, but there's a lot of mixed kids here as well, so I guess its coming along. The rest of the non-white community is alot smaller than any place I've been, but this is also the first time Ive NOT lived in a big city. Despite the lack of diversity, the people are extremely nice and Im happy to say Ive never encountered racism here either. You are definitely correct about the lack of things to do😩. I travel regularly and the airport is ALWAYS a breeze. I feel sorry for you though if you have a long layover there lol. OKC is honestly a nice place to live, however, Id prefer to move now and come back to live in my later years. This is a good video guys, keep it up!

Good research, you two are a cute couple! I grew up in Oklahoma, and the biggest CON is the lack of diversified & high paying JOBS! Over twenty years ago I left Oklahoma, to take a higher paying job out of state with a better retirement package. The biggest PRO, is just like you said the people are so friendly, or should I say receptive to newcomers. It is not unusual to meet someone on a country road and have them wave, for no reason... just friendly. Generations of my family still live there, and I still feel like Oklahoma is HOME. Excellent post!

AS SOMEONE FROM OKC THIS IS THE BEST ONE OUT THERE. THE TRUTH WAS TOLD AND THE GOOD AND THE BAD. So Thank you! for doing a great job, but I'm looking to move out as of 2023. As a black male working in education, the STATE has tried to kill me several times, and often falls into issues with race, poverty, and basic human rights for some that are being denied and ignored by people just moving here. So please just because you are able to afford a house in OKC doesn't mean people in OKC can afford housing, so it sucks when people out of OK buy up housing and try to force us out of our own city, so instead of seeing my friends and family be displaced, and my childhood covered up with generified mess, I'm going to move.

Oklahoma City is pretty diverse compared to other smaller towns in Oklahoma. You'll run into alot of blacks, whites, hispanics, and asians living here for the most part. Not saying we don't have other races, but that is our majority. If you go to certain parts of town like the southside you'll find more hispanics or if you go to the northeast side you'll find more blacks. Also our weather currently as I am writing is horrible lol we are in the middle of a historic snow storm. We are supposed to get another round this afternoon. I've never seen temps like this in the negatives for so long. Us personally we are expecting a bad spring this year as well because it's been so calm the previous years. But we are just speculating lol we aren't weathermen! Normally our weather is cold sometimes icy in the winter, spring we get rain sometimes a tornado a two, summer is HOT like 90s the majority & 100s sometimes, fall is the best time here its usually a good 60-80degrees perfect for any activity outside.

Drugs and general crime is high, police are crooked and either encourage crime or participate in it or cause it.. Our overpopulation of prisoners tell that story also. We have a HUGE overabundance of Single parents, it is insane how many single parents there are here, completely out of control. As far as where to live Mustang/yukon area is a great up and coming area with great schools. 👍🏾 Norman is really popular for families as well and Moore is right between Norman & okc which is slightly cheaper than Norman but still nice. Edmond, Mustang/Yukon, or Norman are nice and have plenty of options as far as housing like new construction/new apartments. The further south you go in OKC like right on the brink of Moore/OKC is pretty safe in my opinion, there are also gated neighborhoods all over the city though. There is crime all over though, unless you are living in Gallardia where security is 24/7. I would suggest, even If you don't plan to move to apartments check the google reviews first in that area. That should give you some insight to what usually happens in the area.

Great video! I'm a student coming to study at OU from the UK in the next academic year, does anyone have any suggestions in terms of the best things for students to do?
@LivinanOKlife
3 жыл бұрын
Congrats! Well we don't have any specific videos for college students quite yet but we did make a video about things to do in Norman, here's the link kzitem.info/news/bejne/xG6Y25iBr5qppaw. Campus corner is really popular amongst OU students and there are always watch parties for football games. Hopefully we can make some content geared for college students in the future to give you more stuff to do. But in the meantime def check out the video I linked to get an idea of a few things Norman has to offer

It depends on what you do, there are a lot of jobs here. If you're interested in moving here there are definite possibilities. There are large corporations here that are always hiring. Hobby lobby distribution center is a good place to work to get you down here. That's just one example. Oil and gas is a big employer here too.

We're good people but not religious people. I know everybody is different everywhere. Is Ok will be a good place to raise our family and if so where? generally speaking. Thanks. The suburbs of Oklahoma City tend to have good school districts like Yukon, Mustang, Norman, Edmond. These are all great places to live and raise a family and still be near enough to OKC to do things. If you ever need a realtor I know some folks here that can help you find a place.

@@LivinanOKlife Day 1, we started with stopping by Zero Tolerance Coffee for their bourbon barrel cold brew, then swung by the state Captiol hoping to explore inside, but it was closed. We stopped by the Oklahoma History Center next door instead. Afterwards, trip to OK Cider and Core 4 Brewing. Drove to Scissortail Park for a walk, and did dinner at Social Capital, capped off with a late night stroll through Bricktown. Day 2, we went for an early morning walk down Boathouse Row, then drove to Norman for brunch, beers and Premier League soccer at Beer is Good Brewing, stop by Equity Brewing, coffee at Yellow Dog Coffee, and then headed back to Dallas.
