Rodney Alcala was a sex offender and a serial killer in the 1960s & 70s. The murder of Robin Samsoe in 1979 took place when Matt Murphy was just 12 years old, so how did he end up prosecuting Alcala in 2010? It’s all thanks to dogged police work...and a prosecutor who wouldn't give up.
Former Orange County Deputy District Attorney Matt Murphy took CC24 attendees into the diabolical life and crimes of Alcala, who had eight confirmed victims, but is suspected of more than one hundred. In 1978, Alcala appeared on a broadcast of The Dating Game, where he was introduced by the show's host as a "successful photographer". Alcala is confirmed to have killed at lest three women in the years following this appearance.
