Here is a new video about the endangered Echo Lake Ancient Forest, including some spectacular drone footage, which lies in the territory of the Sts'ailes First Nation band between Mission and Agassiz about 100 km east of Vancouver. It also includes interviews by local landowner Stephen Ben-Oliel and Ancient Forest Alliance executive director Ken Wu. Echo Lake is an extremely rare, lowland old-growth forest in a region that has the highest concentrations of bald eagles on Earth during some years of the fall salmon runs in the Harrison, Chehalis, and Fraser Rivers. Over 700 bald eagles have been counted roosting in the trees around Echo Lake on some nights! The south side of Echo Lake is protected in a 55 hectare Old-Growth Management Area, while the north and west sides - where the old-growth redcedars still stand - are threatened with logging.
