Protector Lamp show you how to rebuild a Protector Lamp Type MC 40 miners lamp. The Type MC 40 was designed and built for Manchester Collieries Bridgewater Estate pits around Worsley all fed by the Bridgwater Canal and the unique underground canal system which transported coal to the centre of Manchester. The MC 40 burns paraffin or lamp oil via a flat wick. They were lit in the lamp room with a higher tension current.
