U will be shocked if u go to Bulawayo from Harare that people wouldn’t know that the term ‘Ndebele’ it’s a mixture of Zulu Sotho Venda and Xhosa. But the term Zimbabwe the country is associated with Shona.I have been to Harare a few times and l heard their views about what they think of Bulawayo.Almost 99.9 % shona speakers think that Bulawayo is 100% Ndebele which is not true.Even 90% Ndebele is not True. The fact is Ndebeles in Matebeleland as a whole make up 60% of the entire group.Xhosa people of Zimbabwe make up 35% of that matebeleland group and 5%Sotho Venda and Kalanga. All these 4 groups in Matebeleland learn Ndebele in School as mandatory with a paper 3 in which u choose between Zulu and Xhosa as well as Afrikaans. The Zimbabwe government classfied all these 5 groups to be Ndebele in Matebeleland due to the fact that there is no Sotho Xhosa and Venda exams just like shona and Ndebele. So the next generation will speak Ndebele but feel more comfortable in Xhosa or Sotho or Venda as second language or in most cases first then Ndebele second.Just to point out to people that The term Matebeleland shouldn’t be confused with everyone being Ndebele.Ndebeles are part of Matebeleland not that everyone in Matebeleland is Ndebele.

This is why certain areas of ZIMBABWE especially in Matebeleland will never develop this is why Binga is so backward because they want a Tonga name on everything and do not open up for other internal tribes .this is neo colonialism at work .if it was a white man they could not have protested.

The big question is who said bulawayo is for ndebele people and secondly bulawayo belongs to Zimbabweans not ndebele people only thats a great error thirdly to those ndebele people calling and threatening war aganist shona people and talking about creating your own republic in zimbabwe you should take your time and sit down study the past and facts about shona people you will realize that shona people dont hate ndebeles they just hate your tribal mentality and your negetive attitude thats all besides that they are intermarriages and its working perfectly. personally i have great respect for the late joshua nkomo he never insulted or hated anyone because his shona he was a real Zimbabwean if you ask me. lastly to those extremist ndebeles who think and believe in hatred against shona people and wants to go to war against them i want you to sit down and do your math if you can see that they is any chance that you can possibly win that war then when you are truly convinced that you will win then you can as well start the war asap ? but if not then its time to change for better ..........................

Whenever the 2 movements united, a Shona must lead & a Ndebele must follow, very wrong principle & whenever a Shona must lead a Ndebele must die, we saw it in ZIPA, Ndebeles died, We saw it in 1981 under demobilisation & Intergration shonas led & pple had to die.
