The Aviator is based upon the idea of a structural system that follows the principles of an ecological organism called Radiolaria found in the ocean. Radiolaria is a perfect example of a living natural structural system. It has a nucleus in the centre whose shape keeps on changing every minute. Further the nucleus is protected by a double layered silicon skeleton system formed out of hexagons which is the most stable structural shape. The organism has spikes coming out of its skeleton which provides a third protective layer and helps Radiolaria to maintain its shape in the ocean and provides a firm grip as a structural system.
Contains a central capsule which defines intracapsular and extracapsular regions. Their siliceous skeletons consist of connected arrays of tubular struts forming a great variety of shells, often with a hexagonal structuring on their surfaces. Radiolaria can range from 30 microns to 2 mm in diameter and are often spherical. They are unicellular creatures whose skeleton is covered with cytoplasm, which is withdrawn if the organism is disturbed. They have solid spines with a narrow internal canal.
The mechanical assembly determines the actual scale of our prototype. The true size that can be ecologically wrapped upon our aviator. Here the steel protype has a size of 600 x 600 while a single triangle unit has a peculiar size. The main physical prototypical assembly has been made up of gas welded steel, along with a coating of nitrile rubber inside. While the wooden prototype overhangs with the help of a hexagonal steel bracket wrapped around the prototype belly and screwed.
