The Japanese Exchange Program has been a cornerstone of Elk Grove High School’s language program for many years. Each year, the school welcomes 10 students and 2 chaperones from Ashidaifu High School and Ashidanfu High School, and Elk Grove High School Japanese teacher Ryan Christie takes 8-12 students to Japan. Christie was so inspired by his own participation in the program, which was founded by his Japanese teacher, Cliff Darnall, that he dedicated himself to continuing its legacy. This year, the school celebrated a special milestone-the 35th anniversary of the Japanese Exchange Program.
