The Andean Alliance for Sustainable Development (AASD) is an NGO based in the Sacred Valley of Peru.
The AASD uses innovative solutions to alleviate the effects of poverty, marginalization, and social injustices that hinder community development and well-being. The AASD harnesses collective intelligence to support community-led development in the highlands of Peru.
In addition to combating the more serious issues in the Sacred Valley, the AASD also has initiates project of community empowerment.
The Children of Inti
The Children of Inti project began by teaching art classes in the indigenous village of Pampacorral, in the Sacred Valley of Peru.
Resting 13,000 feet above sea level, the village has of around 100 students.
Over the past years, the AASD has raised funds to purchase digital cameras for the students - most of whom have never been exposed to technology before. AASD’s Eric Ebner taught photography to more than 30 students between the ages of 10 and 18.
The course produced incredible photography. We were so amazed at the scenic photos the students took of their family, their community, their every day lives that we were motivated to provide them with a unique opportunity to share these images their beyond their classroom.
So on March 21st, 2015 - we want to take 30 students to the city of Cusco to post a large photo mural right in the Historic Center in the main Plaza de Armas.
We want to provide this opportunity for the students because webelieve in their creativity and the empowerment it triggers. The photo mural project enables the students to have a fun experience and to tell their story.
One incredible day, 30 students, 30 photos - and surely a day of at least 30 big smiles!
Thank you for your support.
