Great video!! Thank you! My Deutzia is in full bloom now. I will be pruning them later after this season. Quick question: can i propogate a nee plant using these cuttings? If thats not the right way, Could please you suggest how can i propogate a new plant from an existing one. Thank you!

Hi Sushant, you can propagate from the cuttings. Ideally after it has flowered. Find some semi-ripe material, so it is softwood lateral branch with just a tiny bit 2-3 mm of last years' growth or a tip cutting, cheers Mike

Hello Mike, Thank you for this. Can I ask what time of year you're pruning, please? I've read in books that you should prune after flowering but this looks like Feb/March perhaps? Do you need to deadhead after it's flowered and then do a second pruning to take out the old wood? Many thanks. Sue

Hi Sue, the best time to prune Deutsias and Philadelphus is just after they have flowered, however you can prune by recognising the colour in the stems in the winter, kind regards, Mike
