❤ a good Chelsea chop. I like to do it on half of my phlox because it extends the season and reduces flopping. Also sedum, mums and asters as you mentioned. And my lantana that's just getting established so I want it to branch out. 🏵️

I will be flowing your experiment! I was thinking about cutting back some of my paniculatas in July to see if I can get late blooms that will turn the gorgeous pink in the fall that we sit in pictures instead of the brown we end up with here in GA.

Michelle, I break off the end of sedum, strip 3/4 of the leaves and shove the stem right back into the soil.

Good idea - I have a few perennials that seem floppy and I think I still have time to chop them back. Thanks for the idea!

I did a chop for my sedum a few years back and it did work. I decided to stick all those cuttings in the ground within inches of each other to see if growing them tightly will prevent the flopping(idea being that they will support each other). This year will be the first year to see if that works or not.
