I have 4 PS5 controllers and they were all pretty much dead (they were only holding 30 mins to 1 hr fully charged). I use all my controllers so I was looking at replacing them ALL. Very expensive (one of the controllers is the Hogwarts Legacy one too). I found you and this video and decided to try replacing one of the controller batteries to see if 1. I could do it, and 2. If it worked (held a longer charge). I did it, following your guide and it was super easy. The replaced battery controller now holds about 18 hrs (I used it over the weekend) and I feel pretty proud of myself lol. So I’ve ordered 3 more batteries to replace the other ones. Thank you so much for making this follow along so simple 😀

Thank you so much for your comment and I'm glad to see the tutorial was not only easy to follow but also added new life to your controllers (especially the Hogwarts legacy one, its a great looing controller)! It's always great to read comments like yours and I greatly appreciate your extremely generous "Super Thanks". You are amazing for the support/tip you've given this channel, Thank You So Much!! :)

Oh my lord I had no idea how much easier this was I was dreading having to replace these batteries because the PS4 controller is a NIGHTMARE The shoulder buttons have to be wedged through the outer housing perfectly and requires very small hands to do easily Thanks much for the tutorial, unlike the DS4, this is much easier for a home user to do themselves
@GTRBytes

It definitely is much easier than the old DS4 controllers. The earlier models in particular had a spring for the L1 and R1 buttons that needed to go perfectly into a specific groove made reassembly a nightmare. Glad to see the tutorial was useful!

Best gloves in business 😄 I prefer rechargeable battaries. Both the PS4 and PS5 can charge the controller when in standy mode so I'm rarely running out of charge. Plus the controller in general is lighter with rechargeable batteries. I do wish however that the batteries had even longer performance but as you've shown it's easy enough to change the battery yourself. 👍

I thought the same thing until I tried a Series X/S controller for PC gaming. Hate the way it feels in my hands so I went back to the Dualsense, but if you buy a charger and really good quality chargeable AA batteries, have 2 charging and 2 in the controller, you only have to swap out the batteries about once a week. Using the Dualsense again now and I've had the weekend free so have been doing some moderate/heavy gaming this weekend and the controller has died 3 times already.

The best part of a non-internal and removable battery is that when you have connection issues you can manually restart it. Worst part is the added bulk and need to purchase a chargeable battery.

When I replaced the controller featured in this video, it only held a charge for maybe 20 minutes or so. I have not timed how long it takes for the upgraded battery to fully drain but can say It does last longer than my other newer DualSense controller with the stock Sony battery. Someone commented on this video that they are now seeing about 18 hours of use with the upgraded battery.

Id suggest look on Ebay for the kit I used or other reputable online retailers like iFixit.

Will any battery work on any controller? Or depends on model #??
@GTRBytes
Ай бұрын
The battery and tutorial should apply to all standard PS5 DualSense controllers (including different color ones and even custom variants of the standard controller. Something like a Scuff or added paddle custom controllers might be a little different but should work as long as its based off the standard controller). the DualSense Edge disassembles a little differently and uses a slightly different battery.

One question, I'm planning on buying this for my own controller, the 3980mAh battery, but I'm worried if the controller will blow up like the Galaxy Note 7 or will damage the controller itself
@GTRBytes
3 ай бұрын
Like with any third party solution, it will all depend on how well a company can make a product and their quality testing. There is always a risk (even with original equipment) for something like that to happen BUT it’s highly unlikely. I’m not sponsored by the upgraded battery manufacturer but I trust it enough from various different controllers I’ve upgraded to recommend it to my viewers. Never had an issue with it damaging my personal controllers nor have I heard it damage other people’s controllers I’ve upgraded with this battery brand. Ultimately the choice is yours, this was just my experience with the brand.

Gotcha, I do have a tutorial (maybe in another 2 or 3 videos) about stick drift and how to fix it. In the mean time there are a few great videos that could help with that. as for the scuff portion of the controller, what was the last thing you did before it broke? Was it this tutorial or was it just gaming normally or did you drop it? anything like that before it stopped working?
