Psalm 25 is read in order to fill your soul with hope and peace, to protect yourself from slander and false explanations, as well as to get help in finding your true path.
Interpretation. Interpreters find similarities between Psalm 25 and Psalm 7, where David asks God for protection against the slander of envious people.
Judge me, O Lord, for I have walked in
my integrity, and trusting in the Lord, I will not be shaken.
Tempt me, O Lord, and try me; melt
my insides and my heart,
for your mercy is before my eyes, and I have walked in your truth,
I have not sat with lying people, and I will not go with deceitful ones;
I have hated the assembly of the malicious, and
I will not sit with the wicked;
I will wash my hands in innocence and walk around
your altar, O Lord,
to proclaim with a voice of praise and to tell all your wonders.
My God! I have loved the abode of your house and
the dwelling place of your glory.
Do not destroy my soul with sinners and my life with the bloodthirsty,
who have wickedness in their hands, and whose
right hand is full of bribery.
And I walk in my purity; deliver me,
[Lord,] and have mercy on me.
My foot is on the straight path; in the meetings I will bless the Lord.
