He is also not really that arrogant. He knows what he is capable of and has a lot of ambition, but always leaves room for him being wrong. I love him. It is really sad when people just call him the power hungry guy and then they love Astarion, who I also love.

@@twiggy934 I think Gale falls victim of players projecting irl people they know onto him very often. Besides, sometimes you're simply right to think you're exeptionally good in some area, so what are you supposed to do to avoid making other people uncomfortable? Lie? Play pretend? Kind of reminds me how people treat Solas from Dragon Age and his "know it all" attitude.

So many people who know nothing about D&D call Shadowheart a racist after that initial interaction and they never reflect on it even after 20+ instance of a gith killing an innocent person on sight and liking it. Lae'zel heself only sees other races as "lesser" and doesn't hide it AT ALL.

The Alchemist Fire and Fireball turn on the boat would be kind of hilarious from a roleplay perspective. You have Mapognome throwing 3 Alchemist Fire bottles in rapid succession screaming bloody murder, dealing a pittance of damage with each but adding up to decent damage, then Gale comes in with one Fireball that does more damage than all of the bottles added together. Queue Mapo giving Gale the stink eye and Gale shrugging while the wah wah sound plays in the background.

on the subject of build flexibility and replayability--I agree! My current playthrough I'm doing mostly multiclass builds including changing that of the characters you get and I've fallen into a really fun group strategy where I have items on my two bruiser characters that make them immune to slipping/prone. One of my bruisers is also using that icy staff you just got along with a couple additional frost items that deal more damage/debuffs and spreads ice on the ground. I then have my two other characters hang back casting aoe and terrain spells to add more ice to the battlefield. Which results in all the enemies flopping around constantly while my two bruisers skate around and mop up. It's so fun!

1:00:20 Girly diaries in early 2000s? I have no idea ... 1:03:43 And almost no numbers crunching. Well, there is still a bit, in terms of action economy and number of things you can do per turn. But mostly it is building around effects and synergies and all sort of nonsense, and fun, you would like to do as a player. There are, ofc, absolute fine-tuned builds, but there are also absolute fun (like there is whole set of items and weapons supporting setting yourself on fire to deal more fire damage, gaining Heat and transforming into Heart Convergence, that also could be supported by some items working when you don't have full health, and that's just one example). 1:24:13 Astarion is actually known for remarks like this about short kings. About duergar and resonating minds, you can check duergar race description, either in CC, or in the examine window, they've been enslaved by Illithids for some time and developed the "sense" for Illithid stuff around and "feel" it without even tadpoling

That gnome tag team finishing hit was hilarious! And the fact that one of the participants was dead made it even better, sort of rewarding, lol. I also have many times missed whatever the characters find on landscape with their Perception checks. If you are paying attention to some UI things, inventory etc., or while running, some party member chooses a weird path and finds something, it can be very hard to notice what it was. The light beam is there only for a brief time, and the glowing effect doesn't always show it well if the object is small. I'm sure there are mods that help with that, but so far I have only played vanilla.

On the last part, and since you've tried most of the fun interactivity with Philomeen, there is hilarious interaction you certainly won't see, unless you play as Shadowheart origin (since they did prioritization on main character in some scenes, this one included I think, you can't really initiate with Philomeen by just controlling Shadowheart). So, if you're Shadowheart there is an option that is marked [Cleric of Shar] and it literally says "Do it. I could do with a show" xD. And it is tricky, because it is a class and deity specific option, so player kind of incentivized to choose to see more unique dialogue/content, especially because of playing as origin and because as custom you can't actually pick Shar as deity, unless you use mods. If you chose this specific option, Philomeen goes the same with "Let it be done" and just blows the whole party. Idk, if all "evil" deities have this option for clerics, but I find it hilarious.
