There is a discussion im itching to hear more of that Mike touched on, the current pool of young footballers, I wonder whether that's a direct result of the MDC, hopefully you can do an episode on that.

The man who won the Champions league with Pirates...
@JohnHaze4666
Күн бұрын
No it's not true, he won a league in 1994 and pirate didn't actually had a coach in the final of the champions League, Ronald mkandawire was in charge after Joe frinkington resigned just before the finals.

Oh I now understand by our players don't go to Europe the most. Our football clubs are asking for 4times more money than the Brazilian clubs etc... Thanks for the insightful infor Bhakaniya

We must retain our own players locally, improve our PSL and Bafana Bafana. I don't find anything special about Europe, Africa is a big enough cake especially North Africa. Our talent must be groomed properly from the grassroots level in financial literacy and lifestyle. We must never change our higher asking price, if it's only about money and everyone wants to be a Messi or a Ronaldo then it's very questionable 🇿🇦 must proud itself, build its own product

Retain talent > improve standard of football > bring fans back to stadiums (seems to be improving already) > attract sponsors > better money for clubs and players! Not mentioning impact for the national team.

I disagree.. if we keep all our best players within the country. Then the next generation doesn’t get the opportunity to break through.. that’s a big problem

@@MikeMortonTalksFootball Good points, North Africa still pays well, they are fond of everything 🇿🇦 Europe must not really be heaven for us. We still want to see our best players playing in the top flight football (Rep national team, champions League, club world cup). In Europe, a new coach comes in and our good players don't feature anymore career done. The push & pull plan is a good idea for a population of 60-70 million (a potential 2-4 million 🇿🇦players from grassroots to professional ) But since it's another contested issue why are we not increasing teams in the professional and semi- professional level including referees.
@MikeMortonTalksFootball

@@Demru_1 very valid comments! i think it’s a tricky one to increase the number of teams.. that’s an extra 72 million in grants per year for the PSL. And are there enough good operators to run good professional football clubs. Lots to be unpacked here..

Do agents benefit anything when their player gets a national call out or endorsements?
@MikeMortonTalksFootball
19 сағат бұрын
Not with the call up.. but some agents take commission on endorsement deals that players get, especially if they broker the deal

Just think we need to relook at structures, but South African football looks to be in a decent place at the moment
