I love you. Bc you talk about all the usages. I showed my mom I bought one of these, my parents are homophobic and transphobic.. so I shouldn’t have been surprised by her reaction of being perplexed, and a bit disgusted. I explained it’d be easier to pee bc I go frequent, I can’t sit down easily (disabled), the toilet at my new place is very low. I take a med that’s a diuretic. Standing to pee is still a challenge rn for me, it’s hard to get your body to flow in another position lol. But it has been freeing, it has made things much easier so far. I am so happy I felt comfortable enough to get this for myself. And people like you, spreading awareness, and normalizing this as it should be, are the reason people who need this will find it. Thank you

I'm so glad this has been a useful tool for you, and thank you for your support! There are so many valid reasons one would want one of these, and we DO need to be supportive of people, whether it's gender identity, disability, race, anything. I completely hear you on the mental aspect- I STILL have to consciously let go when I'm standing up! I hope your mom is able to open her mind in time. Keep talking to her. ❤

Great video! Thank you for answering so many questions that are difficult to ask. I absolutely love how well thought out this video and so many of your other videos are. Lots of kudos for inclusivity and demonstrations! I was looking up urination devices the other day and I just hit overwhelm. I got a lot of value out of this video as I'm sure other's will as well. Great job!

Thank you!! I wanted to cover the questions I had about them, including the ones that have come up since using one. It’s fun to play scientist! And I’m all about the inclusivity. I love to support companies that put their money where their mouth is, too. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed with options, and even if these two aren’t exactly right, I hope this can at least help guide someone to what’s right for them. ❤️

I bought and practiced with a Go Girl before a girls’ trip to Iceland about five years ago. I don’t think there were as many options back then...at least I didn’t know of many. I never loved the Go Girl but tried to make it work. One of my girlfriends on the trip did not practice using the Go Girl and had a disastrous first experience of back-flowing! We even captured video of her squealing for help! 😂 She was off in the distance so it was mostly PG rated except for maybe some bad language. 😂 We still have a good laugh when we watch the video. I now have the Pstyle and Kula cloth. The Pstyle works soooooo much better for me. I have to say that I squat more often than not, because most of the time the situation while hiking or backpacking make it OK to squat, but I dread the day I will no longer be physically able to squat. Gotta keep those squat muscles strong for a long time!!! Thank you for making such informative videos.

I started out with a Go Girl, which should be named Go All Over Your Pants Girl. I went searching for an alternative and came across the Pstyle and the Shewee. I love the Pstyle and always hike with it. The Shewee is similar except the spout is soft and folds up for storage. It lives in my glove compartment.
@WanderingSwitchback
2 жыл бұрын
I laughed out loud reading this! How’s the Shewee compared to the pStyle? I understand that it’s shallower, so does that pose overflow risk? Of course, if you have it pressed up against you, there isn’t much room for leakage…
@brisketchick
2 жыл бұрын
@@WanderingSwitchback I honestly have only used it once or twice, but I felt like the experience was comparable to the Pstyle. I didn't have any issues with overflowing.The foldable spout _can_ get a little wonky-shaped after being stored, so I could see it potentially causing issues, although it hasn't for me. Also the foldable/soft spout can be a touch more difficult to make sure it's in place, particularly when I'm in "discreet mode" and trying not to pull my pants down too much. But I like it for my car because it fits in the glove compartment a little bit better than the Pstyle does.

I kept a disposable paper pee funnel in my purse for a while. On a road trip with my sister she needed to pee and we pulled into an overlook with a toilet. It was off season, however, and it was locked. It was also frigid cold. Pee funnel to the rescue -- she didn't have to bare her butt. I need to get more. I also now carry disposable and sealable pee bags in my truck console for such occasions. I actually used one when I was helping with materials collection in a semi-remote area once. Too much water (creek and pond) all around, no toilet. I hid behind my truck door and used the bag (pee funnel top) and packed it out. So much better than when my kids were small. I once had my (then 3-year-old) nephew with me at the post office with no public restrooms and no option outside for discreet relief. I had a small trash can in the minivan so I put a maxi pad in the bottom, had him stand inside the van, and told him to soak the pad. I'm very grateful for the sealable bags now.

It's so nice that we have more and more options hitting the market! I can remember my son peeing in a parking lot at my university while he was in preschool, because especially at that age, you have so little warning, and it was like, well, I guess it's gonna happen here! But boy, my pStyle has come in handy on SO many occasions.

If you are at home, you could just use a bedside handheld urinal. They are sold at Walmart, Home health shops, pharmacies, etc.. not an option for hikers, but might be helpful in your situation. They also have a snap on lid to keep the urine from accidentally spilling

I had a blooper with backflow before as well. I quickly learned that you need to point the device more downward and slightly bend knees with hips slightly forward. Practice makes perfect. So far I had no more backflow issues. I like to wear a liner in my underwear just in case.

It looks like the design may make it hard to keep your pants up, similar to the Oegteis (though to a lesser extent). It might be worth trying, but it may take a different model to be able to keep your pants up.

So, in order to use these, you've got to stick them into your underwear (assuming you're wearing them when backpacking), correct? I'm assuming you don't stick them into your underwear and hike all day with them. But maybe you do? Or do you pull your underwear down a bit just as you do your pants/shorts? How easy is that process? Does it add an additional level of complication? I don't think I need a visual but if you could address this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! (And great video, BTW.)
@WanderingSwitchback
Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Anastasia! You’re correct, you stick them in your underwear, only when you’re using it. It’s not meant to be there while hiking. I just pull down my underwear the same way I do my pants (and verify they’re not caught up on the back of the pStyle!). Like many new things, it can take a little practice, but it is worth the small effort, in my opinion. It is SO handy when we’re traveling. My wife doesn’t use one, and I can stop and pee when we’re traveling in places she can’t. I can keep my behind covered, which is great for being discreet and during mosquito season!

I cut the side out of a Heet bottle and washed it. I work in the woods, there is never a bathroom. It works great. The only thing I don't like is its hard to find a pocket to stash it. Wish someone made one with a firm cup and a little more flexible hose so it could be carried on a regular work day. No purse in the woods and no backpack on the job. Sometimes there is a number of people though. Its frustrating.

You might look at the Tinklebelle. But I store my pStyle in a Ziplock baggie, and I've carried it in a pocket before. Luckily it's not nearly as bulky as some styles out there. This video shows a bit how I store and use the pStyle: kzitem.info/news/bejne/pKaHqGaYZpt9qWU. I hope that helps! I know it can be hard to get some privacy out on the trail. And I get pee on my pants even tho I have practice and used for 3 years. Now I am debating a She Wee (hard plastic) or Pstyle? I do like using the rly long hose as I do get splash backs all over my shoes.

I suggested to the Oegteis creator that they consider some lesser feminine colors, at least. I seriously love anything that can help people feel more comfortable in their own skin, especially those starting further back from the start line. I hope you and your son find they work well for you! ❤️🏳️⚧️
