Is Becoming a PSW Right for You? | What I wish I Did | My Story
You want to be one a PSW not an RPN, not an RN. Why would someone opt to be the person who changes soiled patients while they soit and jab you with their finger nails instead of the person who crushes they mess into their chocolate pudding?
Because you can’t do math your options are limited. If you don’t have the pre-requisites you need you have to settle for a career that feels more like a job.
Although there are many irreplaceable memories and moments of bringing a lot of value to someone’s life as a PSW there’s no advancement. In an office you can easily become team lead or manager with a few strategic moves, time and consistent results but a PSW of 20 years has no authority with an RPN of 2 months and major language barriers and communication issues.
Be in a role better suited for you by getting those pre-requisites and specializing yourself. It’s easier than ever now with www.ilc.org/. You can do the course at your pace, online from home and for only $40.
Stop avoiding the work and take the steps to get yourself into a career that doesn’t feel like work for you.
Be well,
Ruthann
