@kmfiske13 Her deafness was psychosomatic, brought on by her mother abusively throwing her prized possessions in the fire. When she sees her brother burning up in a fire at the same time the drugs start hitting her, she gets her hearing back. That's the interpretation I've read anyway.

I loved the movie man. Thanks a lot. I was thinking this was gonna be one of my favorite movies until it was getting to the end. I kept looking at how much time was left thinking that there was no way the movie was gonna end in 2 or 3 minutes. The ending killed it for me man cus it just leaves you hangin man. Why did they end it so abruptly, but honestly thanks a lot man, it was a great movie

@MrJonesstones i think it's to add some shock to the movie. also, i think that the guy who died represents something, like the "truth" or how things should be ideally for people (people should have their cake and eat it too). unfortunately, reality kicks in when he gets run over by a car, and that all goes out the window

The several times I did LSG on now and later taffys and also in microdot black gels were just like the workshop saw scene earlier in the film and also the cars flashing by was spot on, twisted sounding chirping and trails. Anyone who done acid or even shrooms, knows what I mean. I also saw buddahs and chess boards flying in my closed eye vision. I am glad I didnt wind up on the freeway at 4th st and bryant in SF when walking home after a rave. I took lsd, ecstacy and meth at once.

Great movie, if you keep in mind that it was a Hollywood production, maybe intended to get the kids to stay away from the dangerous substances. The ending seemed to be written in a hurry, but I liked the story otherwise. Thanks for uploading this rare flic, Jack Nicholson in his younger years performing well with what he was offered. On another note, what's up with the crazy end titles score?? :-o Starts at 09:22

I have done LSD in black gel form at raves, several times, and the effect that LSD gives is similar to shrooms. I saw at a rave, chess boards swarming at me and idols of men with folded legs.as I tried to get out the building, people who walked by had trails coming off them and their mouths like a dog snout. finding the floor was tough and looked like it was filled with snakes. lights were like diamonds and brightly colored. sound was echoed with no recognition. suggestion. dont do it.too freaky

dean stockwell of later acting fame. There are honeys in this film, too. STP from the later band as well. Scott Weiland loved drugs, maaaan. Wacky movie. This trip really would suck. Then again, once I thought I was getting stigmata in my wrists and leg arteries and was raising Satan with a tshirt that had crucifixes on it. Movies made in the time always have a feel that never seems to be entirely duplicated at a later date. Bruce Dern had a great career as a psycho. SIlent Runnings sci-fi.

The world is on fire by the strawberry alarmclock,. of course the eerie haunting crying when she is falling is not in the original song, still creepy huh. That's hallucingens for you, I did them, they are extremely powerful and scary, i saw half man half deer and a cave of eyeballs once, and people at a party had faces appearing to be changing and melting. this lasted for 6 hours and slowly wore off.

Owesly's Acid was really pure...I highly doubt the acid that is around now is anywhere near the purity and potency it was back then....people I have talked to who have done acid in recent times describe a jiffing speed like high.....the stuff they are passing off as lsd nowadays could be anything..

@22centman36 Yeah, I agree, I don't think they meant to make a "bad" film and the actors in this one (Strasberg and Nicholson) are certainly respectable, but they had to go put a lot of anti-drug messages and other scary stuff in there. Heaven forbid they make the hippie life look too attractive so more kids would run away from Iowa or wherever to go be hippies. I understand when "Easy Rider" was made, which was much more of a true counterculture film, people hated it as having no plot, etc.

this is stinky, sorry acting ..... at it's finest! .... jack nicholson couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. the only reason he got where he was cause his dad was a rich producer.
