OK it’s so cosmically crazy you’re making this video right now because I’m currently rescuing my sister from a cult. My mom brought my little sister into a cult when she was very young, hid their location, and now I am talking to my 16 year old sister who just days ago got a secret phone (they’re not allowed to have phones) and contacted me saying she wants to leave, she’s being abused, and she wants to go live with our dad (who has had her location hid from him for years, even though he had 50-50 custody). She is legally allowed to leave and go live with him at the age of 16 in my state. So as soon as she’s done doing her standardized testing for homeschool in about a week I’m picking her up and helping her leave. It’s crazy the things she just hasn’t been allowed to do, she hasn’t been able to go to the doctor dentist, she’s not allowed to make friends outside the cult, and my mom lied to her and said if she went to regular high school, she would have to start all over again from freshman year (which isn’t true). Not to mention she’s been physically and verbally abused. This video came at the perfect time 🙏😪❤ wish me luck helping rescue her

Have two friends that have gotten deep into Health At Every Size (HAES). It has been an absolute nightmare watching them get deeper and deeper into this, while their health gets worse and worse. Multiple ankle fractures, blown out knees, nerve damage, fibromyalgia, rosacea, pancreatitis, inflamed liver, all while their mental health plummets. They’re so depressed, anxious, and angry all the time. I’ve had to basically accept I will most likely be burying both of them within the next 5 years. They won’t listen to me because I’m a “former fat”, even though I also have fibromyalgia, chronic joint pain, PCOS, and digestive problems …most of which have been severely alleviated through… WEIGHT LOSS. I’ve had to step away a lot from both relationships. It sucks.

@@shallonlester it’s insane. Every time I hangout with them, I feel like I’m in an alternate universe. I had my first baby in Jan this year, and I put on A LOT of weight, 80 lbs. I’ve already lost 45 lbs, and they keep telling me that it’s wrong for me to focus on weight loss and I should just focus on my baby. It’s like, I am focused on my baby, I’m focused on getting back to my healthy weight so I can *be there* for my baby, be present instead of being distracted by joint pain, play and run after him as he gets bigger, and be healthy for him so he doesn’t have to be my caretaker. But they think the very idea of changing your body for anyone else - EVEN YOUR BABY - is wrong. It is so hard not losing it on them every time we hangout. Then having to sit there silently watching them eat horrible food as they complain about fat biases. It’s like I’m back with my old heroin addicted ex from like a decade ago, but at least he didn’t shoot up in front of me while complaining it was a mystery why his health was garbage. I think my being able to lose the baby weight pisses them off because I just set the goal, got going on it without being emotional, and slowly am getting it done. But it sucks that my closest friends are basically now my motivation for how I DON’T want to be. Sorry if my spelling or sentence structure is horrible, I’m very sleep deprived.

The problem is that this inherent need for support can be exploited by bad actors (be it a boyfriend, a family memeber, a toxic friend, a cult leader) and used as a tool for manipulation. This is why, relying on someone for support is a HUGE leap of faith.

Your video has fresh perspectives I’ve never really taken into consideration. I’m not shocked that your advice would be to let them be and let go. I agree with you. Having dealt with severe addiction 😅n my immediate family recently, there’s a very powerful thing I’ve learned. When a loved one hasn’t hit rock bottom, you gotta lift that bottom up! And in this case, the family telling Miranda “peace out! Enjoy. And goodbye.” could bring her much closer to actually getting out. Right now her family is fiending for her and she gets to trample them often… I’m sure that fills a need for her. Also, I’m sooo happy you mentioned the home video and the dad’s comment about posture. When I watched that, my whole body felt fight or flight. I also felt the family was extremely appearance focused, and they gave me victim vibes. I wonder if this situation also feeds a need for them (co-dependency much?) I also felt uneasy watching the sisters’ previous content…. To me it screamed hollow and perfectionist…. Thanks as always for the content girl! Needed this one today ❤

This gives me Azriel Clary vibes. She was one of R. Kelly's girlfriends who gave an interview in 2019 defending R. Kelly to Gayle King. Her parents were so persisting saying that the way she spoke and was conducting herself was not the girl they knew. Turns out, her parents were right and I'm glad they were there when she was able to escape. I understand not getting involved but sometimes your intuition doesn't let you rest until you do something. Normally, I'd say, "Let them be if they are adults." However, adults under 25 are so vulnerable because their prefrontal cortex isn't fully mature, which means they can't make clear decisions.

No. Cults are predators. They are looking for vulnerable people that they can manipulate. No one joins a cult knowing they are joining a cult. They indoctrinate you and eventually alienate you from your friends and family. They love bomb you just like a narcissist does. Cults are like a narcissistic relationship. Yes, ideally Miranda would have the guts to look at her family of origin and leave them on her own. But take it from a “baby girl” who was groomed to be a pleaser: the anxiety of standing up for yourself and leaving on your own terms seems like an impossible reality. And this is how you end up with a Narcissist or in a cult or getting handed from one pimpy dude to another. Miranda is doing the best she knows to do, I promise you that.

My family is Mormon and I grew up Mormon, there’s a lot to debate about cult or not… it’s a cult dressed up in a suit and tie. Anyways… As soon as I found out the actual truth about the church’s history and what they do with the 10% of your income you have to pay in order to access the temples/spiritual rituals (and what those rituals are sheesh) I was doneeee. The first thing I wanted to do was to save my family. I wanted them to see the truth like I did, so I would show them actual history actually facts and they just wouldn’t hear it. “God” gave them the warm fuzzies so it doesn’t matter that the church founder would secretly marry children and other married women without his wife knowing because “God ordered him to”. It caused so many arguments between my family and me so one day I just decided it’s not my problem. And when they try to bring it up now I simply say we don’t talk about it and we have a great relationship now. I know because this cult isn’t putting them in too much danger and they are benefiting from the community, I shouldn’t spend too much time worrying about how to help them. They don’t want to be helped! Another thing is when you leave a high demand religion you’re very likely to fall into some other kind of group that could ask a lot from you. It’s what your brain is familiar to. I left the LDS church and I got super into tarot and crystals and pendulums and spirit guides, etc. It was familiar to go to a place/group where my brain could soak up “religious information” and learn a lot of spiritual things. And although tarot was a lot safer than being Mormon, I have realized about two years later that being so hardcore about that doesn’t really align with me either. Not that it’s wrong, I had a lot of fun, it’s just not for me. But not like how being Mormon was not for me, because that was also *dangerous* for me. Anyways. 😂 So now I dabble and I’m not too intrenched in one specific thing. It’s been a journey but if you’re wanting to help someone out I would get them a safe group to join or make sure they don’t join another harmful group.

The Bible and those who believe in Astrology already predicted everything that is happening in the world. If you cant see it happening now then I don't know what to say.

@geewiz8253 Matthew 24:6-13 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. Conquest, war, famine and death. Wickedness and Turmoil. Book of Revelation 1. The coming of Christ or the Antichrist 2. War and bloodshed. Famine and death. Theologians believe that the world is in for some kind of disaster, be it meteorological, ecological or geopolitical. Timothy (re: Bible) that in the last days, there will be very difficult times for people will love only love themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, Children will be disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful.

I have said I'd never be part of a cult because I don't like to live with other people! I basically allow my husband at our home because is his too. Also, all the meetings and events with the same people over and over ugh sounds like a nightmare But ues there are people that seek to belong to something sooo much that actually love it bad part isnthey get taken advantage off and I never trust people that can't be friends with anyone else just their group but they are adults (and in my opinion not right in the head to never realize they are in a cult) but to each their own .

I did think maybe miranda just wanted out of the family and they can't accept that she wanted to move in a direction they can't go so they use the reason that she's in a cult and was brainwashed as the miranda they know is not like this. People can be very good at hiding their real personality until they can get away from people they want out of their life.

@beewest5704 that's true. Doesn't mean she didn't fall into another toxic environment but only she can say if it is. She did a statement about the netflix documentary on her ig which might give some context on her side too.

the girl in the cult had a glow up ! I'm not supporting this at all!!! but I had the thought while watching that maybe she felt like the less pretty or less something out of the two and the cult and exposure gave her (a superficial) confidence. She seems to come from a supportive and loving family so why else would she join a cult? there has to be something within herself
