In this video I’m going to be discussing psychosis, exploring what it is and it’s common symptoms (inc. hallucinations and delusions) as well as how it presents specifically in those with BPD.
Psychosis can be a common* and extremely distressing symptom of BPD but is also one that has a clear lack of consistency in clinical understanding and treatment. I want to look further into what is known about psychosis and BPD and what can be learnt when it comes to treating and managing this illness.
So in the first half of this video I will be looking at
- what is psychosis
- how it presents across psychiatric disorders
- how it affects people with BPD
In the second half of the video I will be opening up more of a discussion on the following points -
- how can we better understand the nature of psychosis in bpd
- how identifying and defining differences between bpd and psychotic disorders can be helpful
- how to identify factors that could help with the treatment and management of psychosis in bpd
This is such a huge topic and I am very aware that bpd has such a wide range of symptoms and is different for everyone. This video is intended to help spread awareness and start an open conversation on psychosis in bpd using information from my own research + studies as well as my own experiences with the illness.
I hope this will be helpful and informative to some and I would love to hear about your own thoughts and experiences with this as it is so often a source of confusion within our community.
Thank you so much for being here,
Esther x
