The boys were founded by two cousins who grew up together in New Orleans. They've had a lot of issues in their past and it led to the sad and depressing lyrics you see in these songs. As someone who does currently see help and has always struggled with bad thoughts, relatable music like this helps me feel better. Makes me feel like it's not only me and it is okay to be not okay sometimes. Which they've always said is a message of theirs. The good news is that they've actually gotten a lot better mentally over the recent years! Scrim (deep voiced guy) has been sober from everything for over 3 years now after heavily using for at least a decade. Their interactions and speeches on stage have been very positive as well, I got to see them live a few months ago and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Love these reactions, unlike typical reaction videos I feel like I'm learning a lot as well, your insight is awesome

I fight both anxiety & depression. I still don’t know if my anxiety triggers my depression or vice versa.. It’s a vicious cycle. Please believe me when I tell you my jaw DROPS when I hear the boys pull words from from the deepest darkest parts of my mind. In that moment, I suddenly don’t feel so alone and distraught. I’m in therapy now, my therapist is the shit 💛I’m so glad I got help, I’m learning to roll with the punches … Anyone out there dealing with the same bullshit, keep pushing forward. I've always wanted to see something like this. I hide the music that I listen to. I'm not a very closed person anymore but I am with my music. I think suicideboys is something that is difficult to understand listening to in a group of people. I'm not going to play suicide boys with my bishop but I will with the people that understand my train of thought. It's anxious, articulate, upset, and obsessive. They have a way of saying really intellectual things in a sea of other words of action. It's just nice to have someone else vocalize similar thoughts.

To me, $uicideboy$ is like a breath of fresh air in a world where a lot of artists want to pretend as if everything is rainbows and butterflies. Bottling things up and pretending everything is perfect is not good for ones mental health. It really does help to speak your truth and get things off your chest. Yes, their lyrics may be depressing but they also make me feel better because they are basically saying " your feelings are valid and you're not alone " and that some how gives me hope and it is as if I just and told someone what I am going through.

6:47 - 7:56 Okay so wow… the way you started by pointing out the self isolation and scrambled brain trying to figure itself out, then saying it doesn’t help blatantly made me realize that as a fact. For the longest time I’ve been struggling with depression for whatever reasons, maybe it was my childhood or other things that made me this way. Idk. But my solution to this has been isolating myself and smoking myself to death, while my brain tries to make sense of my situation and what It can do to help me. But I never get the help I need I never stop smoking even tho I hate it now, (I used to love to get high all the time). And now I’ve been stuck in this loop in my life where everyday just feels the same especially after high school, all your friends leave you, people go off to college (you wanted to go but couldn’t), family let’s you down and you let family down, days of extreme depression where I just don’t wanna get out of bed and do bad things to myself. Idk I have a girlfriend and she’s the love of my life, she helps me so much with smoking and just making me feel happy, and now that I’ve come across this video and your segment of advice, I feel like I can maybe get help for myself, I don’t know what I’ll have to do but ima get myself therapy no matter how much it costs me, ima help myself as well and try to not fall off the edge again. Side note: you comparing my situation(the advice really spoke to me so I view it as him speaking directly to me), to you taking an engine apart and not knowing how to put it all back together and where things go, because you could take it all apart but you couldn’t put it all back together because you lack the knowledge/ help. That was amazing because I was a mechanic for about a year and a half, and I learned all about cars and engines and how to rebuild them and fix them, and it made me see perspective because I know how to rebuild an engine but I don’t know how to rebuild my mind and make myself better yk, so it just really resonated with me. Thank you sir you have helped me more than you’ll ever know. This comments will probably get lost in the comments but I just wanted to get this off my chest and this video helped, along with the great music!!

In the same exact boat. Idk if you’re still in that boat but if you are that’s ok. It helps to enjoy life for what it is in the moment. You can complicate it and add those extra factors, or you can take the things you have and the loved ones you have and just enjoy time. Your life is as important as you make it, college and “success” don’t define how happy in life you’ll end up. I strive to be something great everyday and I don’t think I am, but when my wife looks me in the eyes, I feel great and that’s all that matters

I love your reactions btw pls do more $boys my family use to be very against there music yes it can be depressing at times but having an artist that honestly speaks about addiction/suicidal ideation is a God send I kick myself in the butt sometimes wish I'd found them sooner and I'm glad they speak about issues nobody wants to talk about. I've isolated and am a suicide survivor and it can get rough sometimes you laugh about your own death sometimes you almost brag about it and sometimes yes it is this sad thing that hovers over you. And they have covered every aspect of that it really depends suicidal ideation can get pretty complicated but letting them express that either good or bad is somewhat healthy you bottle it up it makes things worse glad you come to there music with an open mind btw my family doesn't discourage there music anymore and are glad to see I found something to get those negative thoughts out 💙❤️

Thank you for this video Tom! Last October (2023), I was going through a really rough time after the love of my life broke up with me due to distance being too hard for her to deal with. It was so obvious that she was THE ONE but living 1000 miles apart made it very difficult. I still miss her and I hope at some point we get together again and fulfill our dream of spending our lives together. I know she is my soulmate, nobody got me like her. This video helped me feel a bit better through the some of the roughest time of my life.

So, as someone who lives with comorbid BPD and AvPD, this song isn't my favorite by Suicideboys, but it definitely captures the darker feelings that come with that combination very well. I have no idea what issues Ruby and $crim may suffer from (other than substance use in the latter case), but I find it uncomfortably relatable. This is a good assessment of the lyrics, and of the effects of drug use on symptoms, too. Sometimes, it's extremely difficult not to fall back into it, because nothing else really seems to help. It always makes things worse, eventually, particularly the self-loathing.

Could be nothing but I think one of the boys might have BPD or something similar? Their songs in general but the title Gabapentin Getaway seems like it might point to BPD. I tried Gabapentin for awhile for my BPD but it didn’t work.

Perfect song. It's something for some people to relate to so they don't feel alone. Cathartic & stimulating.

I have been listening to $b since 6th grade, now I’m a sophomore and just listening to the way you break down the song and try to explain why $b may have made these songs really helps me just realize a lot of things not only about myself but other people. The lyrics may be depressing and unhealthy but listening to them kinda makes me bring out those kinds of feelings making it easier to Adress them.

You should react to their song "life is but a stream~" I feel like you'd have some interesting things to say as a mental health professional. Also love your stuff

I know this is old, but I’m just now watching, and yes the lyrics are dark and harsh, but the hopelessness and raw emotion of the song is cathartic for me. When I’m in that place songs like this are a release. Emotion pours out of me and lifts weight off of my shoulders

Like a lot of others have said, while the music is incredibly sad and depressing, it makes me realize I'm not alone with these feelings, that in some weird way I know that if these guys could make it through everything regardless, I know I can too. Right now I'm in counseling and I'm working towards being the best I can be. This music got me through a lot of hard times oddly enough. Thank you for your wise words and analysis.

Man thank you for the awesome content! I feel like you would like their newer stuff, it really has more of a "I got this" vibe then a "suicidal hopeless" feeling. Regardless, thanks dude, you seem like a great dr.

Songs name and meaning ties into the desolate isolation a bit of a person suffering through stuff, I've been with suicide boys since the underground and i love that they're doing more and more positivity through the lyrics they use

Yeeeeees! Love me some SuicideBoys! You know, as someone struggling with depression and anxiety (including suicidal thoughts) every day (for the majority of my life), listening to music dealing with topics like that is like therapy for me. It makes me feel like my feelings are valid and it helps me put into words what I feel but might have a hard time expressing. Does that make sense? Anyway, thanks for another great reaction! I hope you’ll continue listening to their music a bit even though you find it depressing. 😊

$uicideBoy$ is one of my favorite rap artists out there, even with their depressing music it hits me hard always and I get some type of comfort knowing I’m not the only one feeling what I feel. They express it so well in …And to those i love, thanks for sticking around and 5 grand at 8 to 1. I highly recommend giving a listen and a reaction to these please.

One thing I find poignant about Antarctica is that I think it’s not meant for humans to see. Ever. Human societies have always used the North Star for navigation, or a been the stable of ocean and land travel for tens of thousands of years. Yet the North Star is part of Ursa Major, artikus is the Ancient Greek name for bear, so Arctic means you can see the north star, but Antarctica? The one guide that humanity has had for its entire evolutionary history, in that place, you will never, ever, see it. You’re lost
