Another name is slippy lube . What silver grade never seize is to mechanics , Nylog is to refrigeration A/con techs . Wonderfull stuff even helps sealing R134a couplers on the shaft nut /handle , threads and the oring . Ever wondered how to seal the orings for best vacuum use Nylog . Using a micron gauge [dont all people] will prove why u need it .

maybe it's a stupid question but I have to ask. When we put it on the ring, does it have to be like a gasket? So that both pipes squeeze it and it is tightened during clamping. Or it just needs to be put in its place and when the gas is released, the pressure will press against the ring and it will not release the gas. When I was working on my r134a air conditioner on the car, I couldn't find the right o-ring, so I put a couple of o-rings and clamped it like a gasket. But during tightening, they tore against the rings and later he released the gas.

No, they are not a gasket that gets squeezed through tightening like a head gasket on a cylinder head They are held in place by clearance with just a light pressure . Just buy their positive placement correct size with clearances with the right size O-ring they make a perfect seal Squeezing them, you get something like hydrostatic against a squishy resistance . That will tear up the O-ring And eventually, once the elasticity of the O-ring gives up through heating and cooling cycles, it will loosen up and start leaking .

@@coldfinger459sub0 Can you tell me where you get the o-rings set? Here in Europe it is a little difficult to find, they all sell one and the same set under a different name

@@rade6018 Master Cool , Santec, I just have to purchase the biggest master kits by a few different companies. I get a lot of duplicate O-rings because there is no one kit that sells all the O-rings.

what about adding nylog to shrader valve threads for the service port would that do damage to a system or is it unnecessary and pointless, thanks just curious.

I like doing pointless unnecessary overkill I do that to the Schrader valve and cap

My dad is old enough to be called an “A/C smith” he used to specialize in semi truck a/c. He’s never heard of this stuff before. Just curious, I have a 01 Honda CR-V that I have been restoring. Do you recommend this stuff in modern systems?

It does not go inside the system. It’s only going on the outer surface of the metal on the outside of the system on the fitting and on the O-ring. And the one in the blue bottle is actually manufactured out of POE oil so it is a Refrigerant Lubricant in a thick viscous consistency. Just Like the old days when we used to make our own systems from scratch bend our own lines , braise our own fittings and crimp are own hoses. Back then it was CFC refrigerance R12 that use mineral oil. A technician would either apply mineral oil to the O-ring or if they wanted something a little thicker Vaseline petroleum jelly which is actually mineral oil in a thicker form.

@@coldfinger459sub0 sorry worded it wrong I was just checking if you had used it on modern 134A o rings and threads. This car is going to be my daily driver and I’m trying to bulletproof as much as I can to make it work optimally.

@@CaptainTexas92 It’s not really for the threads it’s more for the O-ring the sealing surfaces. And yes the one with the blue bottle is the one you want for the old R134 R134 is considered old now R 12 is considered ancient Remember we have R1234YF that came out in 2012 and that is starting to become old halfway through its life they’re going to be phasing it out they’re already working on replacements

@@coldfinger459sub0 yeah I tend to forget that. I’m still driving the “golden age” Hondas. I’ll probably do so until gasoline cars are impossible to drive. Seems like yesterday when my pops was rambling about R-12 getting replaced haha.

Hi, is there difference between locktide and nylog?
@coldfinger459sub0

Yes Loctite dries hard like super glue. NYLOG Never dries think of wheel bearing grease. NYLOG is made out of refrigerant oil that is thick, pink of it being condensed down to a thick liquid like peanut butter or jelly. Lubricates moving parts so metal doesn’t gal. Lubricate your O-ring so you don’t dry scuff it and Nick it or put a scratching it that you can’t see with your eye Night log is an excellent vacuum seal it doesn’t dry but if it’s pressed between two perfectly flat surfaces with a little bit of my log even if you don’t tighten it for” vacuum Purposes ONLY “ it will prevent loss of vacuum Loctite if you get inside your system will cause damage can plug up screens can plug expansion valve turns into a hard glass like material that would not be good on moving parts like bearings and pistons. NYLOG On the other hand is refrigerant oil that will dissolve and turn into a refrigerant oil with your existing oil.
