A few tips I learned in Nursing when we started BP are: 1. Make sure the ear pieces on the stethoscope face forward so you can hear better 2. When you are practicing BP make sure to switch arms every time you read so it is more accurate (so if you read BP on the right arm first, switch to the left arm to read again) I always struggled with BP and it took a bit of practice to get really comfortable with

Megan and Ciera, I think this is going to be a long comment, but I just wanted to let you know that you guys inspire me so much! I appreciate it that you post so many videos while you just started a new chapter of your life. Every time I watch one of your videos I get so motivated to do some school stuff or be productive in any other way. No matter what video you are posting I always find it very interesting, so I guess you guys just know how to entertain people😅. I wish you the best of luck for your upcoming years of pt school! Hopefully you guys stay healthy during these difficult times! Greetings from Germany!❤️

some tips for taking manual blood pressure! you won’t be able to hear the artery with the stethoscope until the cuff is pumped up. only pump the cuff up to 30mmHg above their normal systolic bp. try to put the cuff up higher on the arm to avoid sound from the cuff. make sure you switch arms between readings if you’re doing them close together. palpate the brachial artery before placing the stethoscope. good luck :)

as a chinese i think our parents force us to eat pretty clean and healthy foods and they definitely demonize things that are yeet hay (fried food, oily/extremely salty foods, heavy meats etc). from my childhood, I'd recommend boiling some sort of green vegetable (I think most are fine), then adding oyster sauce over it (but not too much). If you don't have oyster sauce soy sauce would work too but make sure the veg is on the dryer side so it isn't diluted. personally, my fav veg to do this with is choy sum or bok choy, however, they may not be readily available in the states so broccoli is also a great option. similar to this, we also stir fry green veg with some vegetable oil, chopped up garlic and salt. honestly stir frying anything together tastes good. these are generally super easy to make which is why I recommend it. AND DONT FORGET RICE

I just started PT school this summer! I need to get a stethoscope for the fall and wasn't sure if I should get the classic Littmann 3 or the lightweight one. I'm assuming if they gave you the lightweight ones then that's all we need which is great because those are cheaper! Love seeing the updates on PT school as I go through it as well!

tbh you can hardly tell a difference when you use them. I go to med school and when I didn’t have my own stethoscope yet I used the one that the hospital gave me which was the littmann lightweight. When I bought my own I bought the classic 3 which I like because of the way I can hold it but everything else is pretty much the same!

My favorite lunch during grad school was to make a giant crockpot of chili or some other kind of soup and just have it throughout the week. The Bear Creek soup mixes are a really easy way to make a big batch of soup, and sometimes I add a few extra ingredients to "bulk it up". They have potato, wild rice, chili, etc.

Loved the video! To know how far to pump it, I learned to feel the pulse on the patients wrist while pumping. When you don't feel it anymore, pump to add 20 mmHg. I usually have the stethoscope in my ears already, so when you're done checking the pulse you can pick up the stethoscope and put it on the artery to listen. Hopefully this made sense😅 It's especially helpful with older patients, because they usually have higher blood pressure☺️

Try using the bell part of the stethoscope when listening to your brachial artery. Another tip is to make sure that you are releasing the air from your BP cuff slowly to make sure that you dont miss the first sound

Have you guys learned about orthostatic hypotension or POTS at all?? I have POTS (and a bit of ortho hypo) and sometimes when I'm at physical therapy, I start to get symptomatic, and it's great that my PT knows how to take BP so I know if I need to take more blood pressure meds.

Good work on your exam Twinz. Can demonstrate a video for reading pluses without using your med gear for example reading pluses from the wrist or under the jaw by using your wrist watch how many beast per second. I have couple of relative in the medical field and showed me how to read pluses as a kid a long time ago almost forgotten about it thanks for the reminder.

I'll be starting my first year of undergrad towards eventually applying for PT school. The way I always make my wraps are folded a little bit of the bottom up and then left and right side keeps everything at the bottom from falling out!

i agree! i'm a vegetarian and making a southwestern wrap is so easy and tasty! i usually use a whole-wheat tortilla, white rice, sharp shredded cheddar, black beans, salsa (i've been enjoying mango-habanero lately), and sometimes leftover vegetables like sautéed zucchini or onions if i have any. you could also totally use tofu and steamed vegetables and soy sauce as the condiment for a more asian-inspired wrap or buy frozen falafel (available at teader joe's) and salad vegetables (or tabbouleh) to make a levantine-inspired wrap.

When taking BP try not to put your fIngers over the the top of the stethoscope because it will make it harder to hear the actual noises. Instead put in on the side of the stethoscope.
