On April 27 2018, two former political rivals joined together to host a Leadership Salon to encourage people to consider elected public office. The initiative is an independent and non partisan organization that provides encouragement, education and mentors to people interested in the possibility of electoral political office.
This event involved people from across the political spectrum. The Society also encourages former elected officials to become mentors in a 'cross partisan' effort to educate prospective candidates on issues of good governance.
This inaugural event was hosted by Bradley Shende of the BC Green Party and Sam Sullivan of the BC Liberal Party. Special thanks to the Terminal City Club, Professor Max Cameron and UBC Political Science and the Global Civic Policy Society for their support. This initiative has morphed into the QMInstitute of Civic Leadership in 2021. qminstitute.ca
