Bobby.....Brutha. When your hunting a boat blind the basic ol Camo net won’t cut it. You absolutely need to fast grass it on top of the netting. Best done with some zip ties or parachord. Also, you need to find structure that either prevents silhouetting the blind behind it(I.E. timber line) or keep it in grass the same/ close to the same height as the grass. Those boat blinds are hard to hide but with a little extra effort and time they can be super deadly. But if you just have it sitting out in the open way higher than the structure then you are setting yourself up for failure. No matter how much you try those boat blinds will always have a little bit of that box shape that the birds hate. That’s why those birds were turning off at 70 yards. They see it from forever away. It doesn’t flare them. It’s just that they see it, it doesn’t look natural, and they decide not to. I’m sure you already know but du is don’t have memory like we do of course, but they have these mental danger triggers that compound the older the birds get. Hence the older ones being smarter. And that shape is a definite danger trigger. Just wanted to drop some knowledge bombs on you. Hopefully you see it and hopefully it helps. Love the content man.

Best bang for buck on colored grass I found is ordering from Jstern.com. Bought 24lbs for about 180 plus shipping. Looks great on my boat. instagram.com/p/B3A65pygk5y/?igshid=vgg8zi9epqal. Have gone back and added some more since that one was taken. 18ft boat and I still have a decent bit left over.

@@MGFishin Not to brag too much, but it is pretty sweet. Used a three layer setup on a custom aluminum frame. Its a brown/green net with camo mesh behind and grass along the outside starting with a greenish color at the bottom and fading to a nice straw at the top. Ducks do not seem to care so far.

Bobby, one of the reasons I started watching your videos and why I continue to watch them is that you show us how duck hunting really is. You channel is not a shoot-fest with a guide on private ground owned by the guide service. You ask permission like the rest of us and hunt on public ground. Your channel showcases what waterfowling is all about.

Hey glad the vented cap seemed to help! FYI to get a dog into the boat just get his two paws over the gunnel. Then put your hand behind his head and believe you me he'll be in the boat. Seems their neck muscles allow em to push back on your hand and they toss themselves into the boat. Try it! Dogs are heavy to lift in otherwise. Hahaha!

Cheyenne Bottoms does NOT have 25,000 acres of public hunting, regardless of what Booby says. The entire State-owned Wildlife Management Area encompasses less than 20K acres, and close to half 0f that is sanctuary and is NOT open to the public for any reason. Right now, one pool is completely dry, two other hunting pools are effectively blanketed with cattail, and the largest hunting pool is 50% blanketed. Figure, this season, that there are about 4000 acres of water that is actually huntable. Add the fact that on any given day, there will be about 4000 HUNTERS on those acres, and you can see what to expect. This video is a good example.....

29,000 acres, Fishing Bay WMA is Maryland's largest wildlife management area and largest parcel of publicly owned tidal wetlands in Maryland. Large expanses of tidal marshes dominate eighty percent of this WMA, located adjacent to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. in southeastern Dorchester County. Wild Sika deer run in it also.

I've been having that same issue with the ducks up in Nebraska man. They start dropping in from 100+ yards out, then right before the 40 yard mark they turn or flair, doesnt matter if I've got the mojo, or the quiver butt out, silent or calling. I'm hoping with the cold front this week helped to push ducks south out of the Dakotas.

My hunting buddy has a solution for that. He uses his 10ga with Ts and smokes them at 60 yards. He is one of those guys who could hit them at 80yds if he had a gun and load that worked at that range.

It took me 2 or 3 years to realize how hard it is to hide a boat and make it look natural enough to not flair birds. I have a double layered grass blind on my boat from front to back and over the motor and I still cut fresh brush to layer in and around my boat every hunt. The more cover the better it will make the difference from just pass shooting a few birds to killing limits of decoying birds in ur face.
