Gilbert, Your videos are such an awesome time machine for me. It's weird how much I have in common with you. I graduated high school in 1989 as well. I grew up in L.A. but my father lived in West Covina so when I visited him I would go to Puente Hills Mall. I moved to Fontana in 2002. I too suffer from depression and anxiety for years which makes me kinda of a homebody. Anyway, I'm very nostalgic for the 80s and when I was young and just the memories so I love your videos.

Ms Gazelle, I agree, these are great videos. Gilbert did an awesome job. His videos kinda trip me out too in a strange way. As Forrest GUMP would say, " Life is a risk, Carnala." So, please don't trip. Just breathe, believe and receive. Then do it again....and again...and again....One giant breath at a time !!!

Back when food courts didn’t exist but instead individual food restaurants inside the mall. Growing up my family would go to the Puente Hills mall most weekends with my grandmother. She loved to shop. The Sanrio Surprise store was my favorite. I loved fishing for the grab bags filled with surprises. 😊 and that McDonalds as a kid was everything. Even the slanted walkway. Exactly! Not to mention that my local mall used to have all these intresting little stores that weren't really chain stores but more like a family operated mom and pop place..well those all got shut down and turned into over expesenive stores like Coach,Michael Korrs,MAC etc..my mall looked just like the one in the video back in the 80s and 90s. Now it's been remodeled and is very bland and has a cold feel to it. Also used to have an arcade and kids & teens would hang out every weekend. Now that's gone and I never see anyone hanging out. .it's mostly just soccer moms. The only store left from my childhood is Spencer's Gifts.

Robinson's is now Macy's, which first became Robinsons-May in 1993 before Macy's in 2006. The former Broadway store is now an AMC theaters. JCPenney is now Burlington Coat Factory on the lower level, Toys R Us and Round1 on the upper level, and also a 24 Hour Fitness gym on one side. The only original anchor that survived is Sears.
