The rare and poorly adapted headless Skomer puffins ! The magical moment when they dip their heads is very hard to capture - though you will see one or two in this video - with a very special 'blink-or-you'll-miss-it' right at the end. On some days there is a lot of head dipping ( snorkeling) going on, and that increases your chances, but on other days they hardly do it at all. Then there is the fact that there are often a number of birds paddling around within camera range, and it's not unusual to choose one with the camera just as you see it's neighbour strike the perfect pose ! I used to find it frustrating, but have learned to love the experience for the wonder it offers, which is, on a good day, to be floating unnoticed amongst a raft of a hundred or so puffins.
