Brought back great memories. Grew up in Maryland, had friends in Yankee Rebels in early 1970’s & enjoyed attending the competitions, the Hawthorne Caballero were a favorite

My dad was a Hawthorne Caballero (William Rusch ) from after World War II till the 60s this brought tears to my eyes some of my first memories as a little one, standing on the curb at the Maceys parade hearing them get closer feeling the percussion go through my body and my eyes blinking to the beat. I’ll never forget it. my dad talked about a guy in the drum core named Costello. They were legends.

I remember him talking about them beating the New York Skyliners for the grand championship and the Skyliners were so mad. They went down below the stadium and played their asses off super loud and you can hear it vibrating through the whole stadium.

Saw them there. They looked and sounded great. I hope they are around for a long time to come. They exemplify what drum corps was in the old days and they are so cool. I like the modern interpretation of drum corps but love the old school drum corps a lot. You folks make me proud to have been involved. Your energy puts us all to shame

My dad was in the Caballeros. They saved his life after World War II. He even went to Cuba with them. There’s stories of him hitchhiking on the side of the road with a manikin playing a prank and the Caballeros tour bus picked him up. He had so many stories he talked about a guy named Jimmy Costello I thinka lot they had some good times

Great video! Reminds me of the Troy State University "Sound of the South" drum line of the mid to late 70's! Only thing missing are the conga drums!!☺
