Was watching the lake effect snow as it was coming down last night on Buffalo Weather's channel. Lake effect snow is almost always the worst... If you're still up there, be safe...

I'm surprised the mass media is making such a big deal about it. This is average lake effect snow for northern NY, which happens multiple times a year - every year. I remember being in Parish, NY with 7 feet of snow in 3 days. This two-footer was very routine. However, outstanding video, very well made, and I still enjoyed watching it!

Grew up in Pulaski in the winter we had many days off from school ( and we loved it) One year people were stranded on 81 and we went down on snow moblies and brought them up to the fire hall.. I didn't learn my lesson and moved to Buffalo ..🙄

Was in Pulaski for the Salmon run in early October. Boy what a difference a month and a half makes. It was record high temperatures there and for Saracuse while i visited. I would love to be theere during a lake effect snow storm like this.

Back in the early 70’s when I was a student at SUNY Forestry, I decided to go home over the weekend to see my family in Pulaski. Weather was fair leaving Syracuse, but gradually got worse the farther North I headed on rt 81, eventually looking just like the footage in the video. I stopped to clear the snow off my car windshield and rear window and my engine died. I had an old car and I was running the heater, windshield wipers and lights. Too much for the battery, I guess. I was stranded on the side of the highway, in a blizzard. Fortunately, a good Samaritan stopped and jump started my car. As we were doing this a caravan of vehicles went by, led by a semi, in front of which a man was JOGGING to keep the group on the road. Weather conditions were that bad. I pulled into line following the caravan and finally made it home, white knuckled all the way. Just another snowy adventure in the North country, but I shall never forget that day or the sight of a man jogging in front of those vehicles to lead the way.🥶

The big difference now truck drivers don't know how to drive. They have no clue. Another bad thing is they don't use CBs like the real truck drivers used to. They also don't use chains on their tires when they should they don't know how to slow down for conditions. Where is conditions all the time when I was growing up in Upstate New York if you didn't have snow tires or studded snow tires at least you can get a ticket at the very least. People are just stupid nowadays and dangerous can't handle one inch of snow or a bit of rain on the road. Or any traffic besides themselves on the road for that matter. Now it makes sense why Forrest Gump ran across the country, stupid is stupid does, drivers...
