I was woefully underprepared for my junkyard trip the first two times.
Took me 3 trips to the junkyard but I finally was able to start pulling the control arms to lower my D150. A much cheaper option than buying Rekudo or some other brand lowering control arms, but slightly more labor intensive.
Apparently many models of ram vans share lower control arms. From B150, B250, and B350 vans to late 90’s B1500, B2500 and B3500 vans.
Just a few months ago I junked a van that I could have used the control arms from. But I didn’t know I’d end up with a D150 then.
I also used a torque converter as a hammer. That’s a new first for me today.
Tools needed:
Sockets, deep well: 13mm, 15mm, 16mm, 19mm, 24mm, 1 1/8”
A pickle fork to spread the lower ball joint
A hammer
Breaker bar
Crescent wrench is helpful
Needle nose pliers to remove the safety clips from the ball joint bolt
Impact will help a lot
