For any who don't know, he singled out the tailed piglet to have it's tail clipped (docked) like the rest. Piglets routinely have their canines and tails clipped just after birth (with a shot of antibiotics, don't worry) because if you leave the canines, they'll grow into tusks, and if you leave the tails long, they'll _eat them off each other._ Yes, swine are often opportunistically cannibalistic, especially to the runts.
@Valkalyn_Serpenz
9 ай бұрын
So, why not allow the tusks to grow? I had no idea domesticated pigs had them. The tail thing makes sense, though.
@alexisgrunden1556
9 ай бұрын
@@Valkalyn_Serpenz The tusks are self-sharpening; every time a hog clacks its tusks together, it grinds the edge, like iron on a whetstone. And hogs will sometimes fight each other if not separated; they'll use those tusks to slash each other to ribbons. That's why hog-dogs wear body armor; you can lose a good hunting hound to a boar's tusks, because the hog gutted them. And if one of their own is down, crippled and can't get away, and they're hungry? They'll eat the downed one. They'll eat humans, too, if we're crippled and can't escape them.
@isabelletomaszewski9656

My dad grew up on a pig farm and he always told the story that when theyd give the pigs their slop theyd have to put blood meal in it, because pigs naturally are predatory so by getting blood in their diet through blood meal it would keep them from fighting and eating each other. They can be vicious animals, once his older brother was in the pen feeding them and was probably antagonizing them a little im sure, but as he was walking out of the pen one of them bit and took a chunk out of the back of his calf. My dad is a really spiritual thinker and he would always say that he always felt somewhat connected to pigs, he felt like they really werent so different from people. They lived unnaturally to how they would in nature, they rolled in their own shit and were violent and aggressive to each other in their captivity. Anyways i digress, just wanted to share a memory of my dad I love and respect him so much ❤️

This is 100% to feed the world and these pigs aren't looked at as anything other than as $'s and a business. You prob don't want to know how these piglets are euthanized either....if you think they are given a quick acting shot to make them permantly go to sleep, don't kid yourself. Those shots would cost money, and someone would have to then administer them......They use the quickest cheapest method possible, and can be done in the pen the guy is in right then and there.

@@shrubbie69 I haven't dodged anything, I'm well aware of the suffering animals go through to provide us our meat products. Just because you don't find it comedic doesn't mean you're on a moral highpoint. If you eat meat, you contribute just as much to the problem as I do. Get over yourself, bruv. If you really cared you'd eliminate it completely or take routes that minimize it like buying from local farmers instead of industrialized slaughter houses. I luckily have the option of buying my meat from farmers around my area whose animals live quite free and happy lives and are slaughtered humanely. Not many people have that option. So again, get off your high horse and stop being a keyboard warrior. Oh and by the way, the fact you're replying to me confirms you're on a device that allows access to social media, do you think these things come from moral production? I greatly appreciate the work you do on your hog farm. The conditions look amazingly clean and pleasant for the hogs. When I was a kid we raised hogs, cattle and chickens. So I know about the work and smell involved. (Chickens are the worst). I think people do not realize that one hog provides enough protien to sustain over 432 people for a day, one beef can provide for over 1900 people. Rasing large quality meat producing animals greatly reduces the detrimental effects on land and wildlife. We should respect our countries meat producers. I have also plowed fields, for large vegetable crops, and it is correct that every bunny rabbit, quail, pheasant, deer, and every other animal on that land is either killed or displaced in the preparation of the field for planting. Then a few weeks later they spray the entire field with poison (insecticide). We destroy things in order to eat. But we have to eat, so we should be the best stewards of the worlds resources that we can be. And it looks like this gentleman is providing a clean pleasant facility for these pigs.

Farming of one crop or livestock on a field is the problem. Doesn’t matter how well you take care of your animals, if you farm ONLY large amounts of beef or pork (or corn or WHATEVER) you are hurting the environment. If we really cared about change and not just money we would fully restructure our agriculture into all multi-crop/animal farms and share in resources to make everything work.
