after seeing the specs on the powerplant, I kept waiting to see a blower installed when you swapped out the lifters. great power for having such low compression. keep up the good work.
@AB-80X
2 жыл бұрын
Remember that static compression means very little at the end. We don't know any valuable valve events, thus we don't know what the cylinder pressure is. I suspect that this cam lifts pretty high and has quite the area under the curve. Also, that LSA definitely help it carry on at higher RPM. The lower end would be stronger with say a 110 LSA, but it would be a dog up on top, especially with that compression.
@hairymongrell

That thing may need some fuel dampening especially at the higher pressures you are running that system. That could account for your dip along with the the inadequate injection. I noticed you added timing in the middle and pulled some on the top end to smooth out the graph. I think If that was my engine I would probably put a carb on it and see if that fixes it.
@oikkuoek
2 жыл бұрын
How is the inlet manifold pressure? Does AFR have similar dip/hump during the pull? How accurate is your port matching? The dip has something to do with resonance. Either valve pulse meets collector back pressure pulse, or a step in port transition creates a vortex inside the intake. This can also be directly under the throttle body. Also cam timing with said runner pulses can cause the dip, if all the ports are smooth.

Nice engine! That’s a really short cam for a BBC, made possible by some serious heads, I think. And all aluminum, too! For that lifter issue, how ‘bout running some street solid lifters on the hydraulic grind? Lash at zero or barely loose cold, use the hydraulic spring package, get a lot less valve train weight, too. Some tests (Westech, I think) have shown another 15 or so hp, not that you need it. Again, really nice engine!

Not sure what rate you're using, but I've found that the EFI systems like a slower sweep (typically I'll use 300/sec once beyond the first couple of licks) because it has more time to analyze the O2 sensor and not make such big sweeps on the fuel correction. I like the mild stuff because it's more relatable to what we do. What was the change, short travel lifters? Nice work on the video, keep it up!
