Love your channel. I’ve been in the building business for 40 years used pump trucks a hundred plus times I’ve learned more from you in 6 months than I did in 40 years on the business end of the pump. Keep it up👍. Roger…out!

Thanks man. I had been tempted to edit it down a bit (my intention was for this to be a shorter video), but I wanted show in detail the benefits of coating the hopper in bentonite prior to pouring. These shotcrete washouts can be an absolute nightmare otherwise.

Pumper caddy on the wheel! Those things are so damn useful in so many ways. Great video. I’m definitely going to be using a even more dirt than I do now. Maybe try and get some on top of the hopper gate so it doesn’t build up and you don’t have to tap it out. I always appreciate the shout outs! 🤘

Funny how you say meters for cubic meters. We usually shorten it to "cube" instead (without a plural form for some reason, like "3 cube of concrete").

I feel like if I just say cubes, the predominantly American audience will assume I’m referring to yards rather than meters (and understandably so).

Dude, how do you get away with leaving a big pile of concrete in the driveway? Love your channel👍
@canadianconcretepumper1979
6 ай бұрын
We knock the pile down and rake it out real thin prior to leaving. Most customer prefer this option versus paying the added pump time + disposal fee for us to take it back to the ready mix plant and clean out there. Most all these types of sites will have machinery coming back to do grading/landscaping eventually anyhow. They just bust it up with the machine.

how long are your hoses eh brother? i used to have air too push out lines and clean and /washout but my boss doesnt have water or air on trucks so we clean them manually, yes im talking lifting the hose above your head and letting gravity shit concrete out lil by little until they are cleaned then rinse them both sides with water, its a process but keeps me in hella shape ill tell yah that haha

25 footers for 2”-3” diameter hose. For 3.5” and 4” we use 20’ lengths. Shotcrete absolutely sucks to drain by hand (so damn sticky). I feel for ya man!

Why don’t you back the truck in before dropping hopper, instead of just dropping it and backing out over mud
@canadianconcretepumper1979
7 ай бұрын
Usually do it that way, however…. the large green pipes sticking out of the ground on either side of the pump made for a good bit of messing around getting in/out of there. Didn’t wan’t dick around backing out, turning around, and finagling myself back in there. I just scratch the washout pile down nice and thin and I’m not too concerned about it. In most situations, definitely better off doing it the way you mention. 👍🏼

When u wash out the hopper have ever use a cheap kids pool to wash out in then move it a forklift no mess
@canadianconcretepumper1979
8 ай бұрын
Done it a few times and they work fantastic. The issue we had was contractors not having means/equipment on-site to move the pool full of concrete/slurry afterwards. Most builders around here prefer us just to rake out the material as thin as possible so they can bust it up by hand and toss it onto their disposal bin. The washout pools are great though. And dirt cheap. Wish we could just washout into those every time 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

There’s so many variable which come into play. In recent years we’ve seen a real influx locally here in shotcrete being used for building vertical walls in parkade structures. 15-20 years ago, it was all done with conventional forming panels and poured by either boom pump, or with crane and bucket. Today, almost all parkade exterior structural walls are poured using the shotcrete method. That’s just specific to our area. Methods vary greatly from region to region.
