You'll need to talk to your vet, and follow the instructions on the food bag.

Naps are improving but i still stay beside the crate until he’s asleep. Tomorrow i want to try walking away before he’s fully asleep but b in afraid he’ll bark or cry and I’ll have to start over. It’s hard to tell if I’m moving too fast.

Hi, Michelle, Thank you for another great video! One question I have is with regard to the calming and relaxation that having my 14-week-old [Yorkie] puppy snuggled up and sleeping on my lap. Often, after playing for about 15-20 minutes, we settle down to rest. I will often put him in his playpen after the laptime, and am planning on starting the crate napping and sleeping this week. He loves going into his small travel crate but we haven't done the full-size crate yet.

Yes it would be a good idea to start eliminating the lap napping. You don't want your Yorkie dependent on that step in order to take a snooze. You can implement a cool down routine that helps him know when it's time to snooze. When he's a little older and crate training is firmly established you can offer more naps out of the crate. But he's learning some habits now and you want to make sure they are sustainable!

I know you have to start somewhere, but who the heck has time for this day after day...

Yep! New puppies are a lot of work. We have to teach them to live in our human world and it is a lot of work at first. But it pays off for a lifetime!

Our puppy is good with crate but hates the playpen. Even with food in it. She grabs the sides and pulls on it.

Have you watched our video about the playpen? It poses some additional challenges because the puppy is awake, but you can still teach her to be calm and quiet when she's in it. kzitem.info/news/bejne/ko1qs4OlpYNzjJgsi=VI0iYHxqWhsJ2JxT
