Charlie your little Sherlock is a treasure! I think he should become a permanent member of your loving family. He is just too special to part with after all you’ve gone through with Apple’s litter. Maybe he was saying the same thing to you with his little chirps and purring! Thanks for all the wonderful updates. 🐶♥️

Hes so cute! ❤ i did have a couple questions - one you might use for ask the breeder- that is how best to train a pup to like/ tolerate a pet carrier . My dog is known to get anxious when he feels “covered up” i found out the hard way he hates crate covers . Second and I know you have done videos on this in the past but id love a “for dummies” version if you will for how to stack ur dog and show. Many handling classes have been less than helpful) snd i want to try to show my dog . I have tried to follow along with ur videos but hard to know if im doing it right. Thanks in advance ! Always appreciate ur videos and puppy reports

Those little sounds are so precious! Love to watch him focus on you. Cavaliers are so smart and loving. He’s clearly 100% CKCS! Thank you for the update. A video on Westminster would be very interesting. I have watched Westminster for decades and am always puzzled at why certain breeds are not chosen while others always seem to win their group and go on to best in show. The poodle showed very well. I liked the Afghan but had a feeling the poodle would win. That breed has won so many times!

Cavalier never win their group .. I'm soooo familiar. I used to breed/show/rescue Chow chows. I can't remember ever seeing a chow win Non-sporting. There's just no way. I always liked it when anything but a standard poodle won non-sporting. I can't figure out how an actual sporting dog ended up in the "leftovers" group. Sherlock is so sweet. Love his vocalization . They always remind me of guinea pig squeaks at that age.

Hi Charlie - you mentioned in this video that there are many reasons that Cavalier King Charles Spaniels NOT only have NEVER won Best In Show at Westminster Dog Show BUT they have never won Best in their Toy Group. Can you share some reasons as to why? I've been lucky enough to have had two Cavaliers in my life, and I don't think I'm being biased when I say that they are one of the best, if not the best, dog breeds recognized by the AKC. I've never understood why they are consistently overlooked at the Westminster Dog Show. I'm not even sure why Cavalier owners, breeders, and handlers bother with this dog show. BTW, I think Sherlock is absolutely beautiful !! He is precious indeed!

Charlie what are the main reasons Cavaliers never win at the shows?
@chaskat35
3 ай бұрын
In my humble opinion, it all stems from the fact that when AKC recognized the breed, they put them into the Toy Group, where I don't believe they belong. Many of the Toy breeds have flashy coats or unusual physical characteristics, while Cavaliers have a classic spaniel appearance. That takes attention away from the Cavaliers in the lineup. More to the point, many of the Toy breeds are "hard stacked," meaning that the handler gets down on his/her knees and sets the dog up in a perfect stance. Cavaliers are free-stacked, and it's therefore more of a challenge to get them to stand perfectly when the judge scans down the line.

What are the reasons why Cavaliers never win Best in Show? Safe travels.
@chaskat35
4 ай бұрын
Here are a few: Many of the Toy breeds are hard-stacked, i.e. the handler gets down on the ground and sets them up perfectly. Cavaliers should be free-stacked, which means that the dog has to set himself up properly to show a perfect profile. That makes it harder to present a nice outline to the judge in the lineup. Cavaliers are small companion dogs, but unlike most in the Toy Group they have a sporting background in their history. Their gait on the move is therefore straighter than the flashy movement of some Toy breeds, and needs to be more focused on extension from both the front and rear. Cavaliers are among the largest of the Toy breeds, and as a result their normal gait is faster than almost all of the others. This is a factor when the Group is gaited around the ring as a group - especially if the Cavalier is not in the front. Those are the first few factors that come to my mind, and I'm sure that other breed specialists will have their own take on the question.
