Nice, thanks for your kindness and sharing this. Blessings. ps-I love how you talk through many things as it lets me go back and just play it and listen, it drills in my head all your positivity and it inspires me to go back and play these games. Its great reinforcement and fun. My dogs already know your voice and your dogs, they no longer bark and know its just training. Quite funny really. The only time they barked was when you first got Halo. The using of pup as a name when first getting your dog is actually a good thing in case the pup ever gets away. Keep sharing - caring, prayers to the journey, would love to see videos explaining how these games help service dogs. Blessings.

I've been a dedicated fan for many years, since Splash's pup training videos. I've enjoyed training a number of personal and foster dogs with clicker training after a lifelong obsession with behavioral psychology and I can always count on your videos to provide new perspective and insight with already familiar concepts. I appreciate all the hard work you've put into your channel over the years and now looking at your newer videos, see that the quality of your tutorials has come a long way from your early days on the web- so much kudos to you! Thank you for putting this up. I like how you are direct to the point and talk naturally, without all that unnatural way of speaking and whole click-baity tone some youtubers have. I think that's what makes people come to your channel. Anyway, I've been reading a couple of books and watching some youtube channels preparing for our puppy which will arrive in September. One thing I find lacking in all the material I've been ingesting is WHEN to teach each thing. I have an idea of what to do in the first day but then things get a little blurry on what to teach in the second, third day, then second week, third week, etc. It's like there are a bunch book chapters and youtube videos but they're all scrambled out of order.
@kikopup

Well the thing is, all puppies are different and need different training. My latest puppy was not mouthy and completely house trained and great with being left alone, so my focus was on other things, were a puppy that bites hard or barks at you constantly or cant be left alone, those would be the "what to train first" behaviors. But for another puppy it might be not chasing cars or playing with toys instead of chewing your couch and table legs etc. Or perhaps a sniffy beagle pup that wants to jump on the table to eat your dinner, you might jump right into leave it exercises. So basically you get your puppy, and work on the basics, but you might see an issue come up and I suggest jumping right in and working on the issues as they crop up. kzitem.info/news/bejne/unxtyKOvgnWHaoI This video goes over the idea of what to train first can be different depending on the dog.

Hi, I'm happy to have found your videos! I have just adipted a 10 wk. old chihuahua who was orphaned at about 1 - 2 wks. I started with your 'guide to puppy training' as she already has some behaviours that need addressing before they are firmly established: i.e. biting faces, chewing fingers, untieing shoe laces, etc.! . I'm not familiar with terms such as click, mark, recall word, cue, etc., so it's hard to understand all the tips. Do you have a video that covers these training techniques/words so I can get more out of this puppy video, please? Thank you.

My puppy keeps getting distracted by the surrounding environment- we keep her in a pen for training because of that, but the pen’s circular which doesn’t give me much space for luring. If I take her out she’ll immediately go sniff and bite at something (and ignore me)… what should I do? Am I training her wrong?
@kikopup
7 ай бұрын
I suggest beginning with just letting the puppy explore and get satiated with making choices and enjoying exploring. Have some novel toys on hand, if the puppy goes to chew on something thats inappropriate, make a high pitched sound like "pup! pup! Pup!" and then start moving the novel toys around on the floor to get the puppy interested in those. BUt try to encourage the puppy to explore and play with the toys. then when the pup is not so interested in the new place, you can start feeding a treat and then move off fast to gain the puppies interest in wanting to see what you have and follow you. There is this game you can play kzitem.info/news/bejne/qZ-wz4Jtpp6mrW0 If the pup is full he will not want to be interested in the treats, so make sure that the food isnt left down, after a meal if not finished. Otherwise the puppy will be very full. Try also to use novel treats to see if that gains the puppies interest.

Absolutely love your channel and this training video! We just adopted our first dog and are wanting to get her training down with your instructions. What order of things to teach would you recommend and how often a day/week would you train specific things? A bit overwhelmed with how to schedule the training through the days/weeks and unsure of what to do first, second, etc. Thank you!!❤

watch the video that comes up thats called 'what to train first' as it will depend on the puppy. for example one puppy will be mouthy and another not at all... one will have trouble house training the other not... one will be scared to put on a leash... the other no issue... so it really depends on what comes up on what you focus on besides also covering the basics.

Fantastic video complication. Love the drop down quick links. Fabulous . My dogs favourite game is to jump on the bed as I am trying to change the bedding (every time) Not sure how to incorporate this into her training as a high value reward!! As always absolutely loving all what you do. Thanks for giving up so much of your valuable time , your dedication, enthusiastic approach, & commitment is very much appreciated. Always a pleasure learning from you. Thank you so much.

Haha, I don't know, perhaps you can have her jump on a blanket (maybe a dog blanket) on the floor and you can pull her around on the blanket?

@@kikopup LOL maybe yes. I am sure it's an attention thing. She is an attention Hussey for sure. She used to do the same whilst vacuuming (sit in the way) but as I just went around her she eventually gave up on it. Thanks for the tips. Love your tutorials. Thank you so much.

This is a fantastic series! I wish I had found this before spending money on a written program. This is so much easier to understand. The written program I bought tends to talk a lot about theory without giving clear instructions for getting the dog to respond as requested.
