Made in my home town!! My dad worked for AC for many years. But I live in AUS for 40 yrs now. 6v71 easy to work on, injectors are serviceable, even exhaust valves are easy to fix. Looks like hours of fun!!!

@@Tassietinker490 Dad worked there in the 50s, they made so many different pieces of equipment in West Allis, Wisconsin. I worked at a foundry next door and I remember some of the bits we made for AC

That's really cool, wish more pictures were taken back then, would be awesome to see pictures inside the factory etc. It's all gone now I suppose.@@richardkilb8305

Yeah, the factory was old school with railway running thru it, the rail cars loaded with material rode in one end, new machines rolled out the other end. Would have been a dark old place. Dad used to have a picture hanging in the lounge room with a quarry scene, with every piece of construction equipment they made in the picture doing something, digging , carting, pushing etc. All gone now, Milwaukee used to have 16 engine manufacturers but now they are all gone. It's hard to comprehend even though I lived through it. Cheers mate, keep up the good work preserving history.

@@richardkilb8305 Cheers mate. It's shame how manufacturing has changed, we're told it's for the better but not so sure sometimes. Thanks for sharing. 👍

great reliable dozer, we have been running one for years. clutch brake is adjustable and under the louvered cover at the rear of the clutch housing. 71 series engine parts are still available where the later AC engine parts are not. stewart warner standard series gauges are very close match to originals except for the hour meter. enjoy

Hi. Thanks for the info, I have been working on it, got the engine oil drained and removing floor plates. What oil do you run in the gearbox and final drives? I see what you mean, the Stewart gauges look good. I have already purchased some vdo gauges, they are fairly cheap and easy to get here. I could change later. Cheers.

We had trouble sourcing the bypass oil filter next to fuel filters so we mounted a remote spin on.

@@bigcal36 Yeah that filter seems hard to find. We were thinking of fitting the same as the first fuel filter Ff141 in. As the parts book lists it as the same. It's only the bypass filter so should be OK.

A Detroit Diesel 671 or any Detroit Diesel for that matter was designed to start with an ether injector so it don't hurt a two-stroke to use ether to start those things
@Tassietinker490

Absolutely, we tried a fair spray of ether here but the old diesel wasn't helping. Since a tune up and some fresh diesel, it's been starting great, colder weather here now so I have been giving it a wiff first start of the day to save cranking so much. 👌

A sniff of ether or easy start it would have fired up instantly always used ether to start a GM Diesel saves wear on the starter motor

That machine need an injector service shouldn't be smoking like that bit of hard work might clear it up a bit
@Tassietinker490

Hi, we tried either and brake clean but no luck, the starter leads weren't real great so probably turning over slow. The fuel was well over 20 years old so probably not helping. I have since got it going better (check my channel) it doesn't blow much smoke at full throttle but still a bit when with no load, I have been told that these type injectors will do that unless I change to newer needle type injector's. Cheers.
